Sorry Hoddie, The Church is not the Catholic Church, it is the body of believers in Jesus, not a physical building.

Oh....... I see... you think the Church is invisible or something... right? Well, let's just see about that, Scripturally and historicly.

Certainly it was to a visible, authoritative body that Christ declared, addressing its first earthly leader, "I will entrust to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven" (Matt. 16:19). What good would it have done to bestow the keys upon a Church so formless as to defy any effort to identify it? Then, too, Christ speaks of a visible Church when he recommends recourse to it for settling disputes among his followers: "Refer it to the Church" (Matt. 18:17). He tells his followers, who make us the Church on earth, that they are "the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house" (Matt. 5:14-15; see also Luke 8:16,11:33).

So Rusty, could you please explain these verses if you believe that the Church which Christ founded is a invisible church?

Also In 1Cor. 12:28 it says: "Some people God has designated in the church to be, first, apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers; then, mighty deeds; then, gifts of healing, assistance, administration, and varieties of tongues."

Explain to me Rusty how any of these members of Christ's Church be invivible? How could they communicate? How could the 'power of administration govern an 'invisible' Church?

In your bible, does Matt.16:18 read.... "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my 'invisible' Church?" My bible sure dosen't.

Even the early Church Father Ignatius of Antioch speaks of a visible Church when he outlines its nature in 107, marking it, for the first time of which we have record, as the "Catholic Church": "Where the bishop is found, there let the people be, even as where Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church."

So Sorry Rusty, the Catholic Church is the church founded by by Jesus Christ as Scripture and history proves. Would you care to share what church it is you are a member of, and when and by whom was it started? I would love to see any historical documentation showing its existence prior to the sixtenth century.

Peace

My Grandfather once told me that the best way to deal with a pet peeve is to stop feeding it and it will go away and find somewhere else to live~~~~~~~~ just sayin

Yes, I relize some of my questions and rebuttles make some feel uncomfortable and are difficult or down right impossible for some to take on.... (from a Catholic no less!)   :)  But going away is not an option, somebody has to keep the anti-Catholics and thier untruths of the Catholic faith in check! ---- Just sayin

It would take more than just 'claiming' truth by the Holy Spirit. It would take proper examination of Scripture comparing Scripture with Scripture (after all, the Holy Spirit will not contradict His Word). There also are some areas of truths where not all is revealed and we should be satisfied with knowing our understanding is limited, i.e. we see through  a dark glass but then...

So in other words Yowm, you would rather not.... or cannot answer who would be in error.    Okay!

Peace

Either A or B or both would be in error...and as I said we don't have all truths but often see through a glass darkly.

Interesting statement Yowm, I thought for those that adhere to the Sola Scriptura Doctrine, all truths can be found amongst the pages of Scripture?

Or in other words.... Scripture alone is sufficient as a sole rule of faith.

Anybody else believe the same as Yowm?
