More of a physical dilemma. We don't have a FFA Forum so I'll ask here . Maybe someone has dealt with this prior? We have moved out to the woods. God's Country. Anyway my dog is out today in the lovely weather playing with the kids. The dog dug up a rabbit burrow. Inside are 3 baby bunnies. Of course now they are cold. I am afraid the momma will not come back. The Dog kinda messed up the house a little. If the momma does not come back and move them or reburrow they will freeze sometime this evening when the temperature drops. It is about 60 F right now. Tonight it will drop back below 40 F probably. Does anyone know anything about rabbits? They are wild ones. The kids are worried about them. One of them is mildly injured. The dog kinda tossed him a little. Nothing major just a scratch. Will the mother come back? I could put them in my shed with a nice warm blanket? Problem is I have nothing to feed them. They need momma. Already prayed she comes back. Peace, Dave

Now as soon as these critters could navigate on their own...they can survive. wow...without seeing them I don't know what to tell ya...them wild bunnies are pretty small when they are able to survive on their own...I guess just watch for the mom to come back and go from there...try to find something to put them in right where they are at to keep them warm... Can't be sure they will eat from ya...wild bunnies are hard...especially when they are used to momma...I got the ones I had very very young...so hunger ruled out with them. I've raised squirrels too To bad its not squirrels...mine wouldn't leave home until after they were a year old.....they are little destructors Good luck.... Scent is very important to wild animals. While this is far to late a reply I am sure, once disturbed, your choices are leave them alone completely and allow nature to hopefully take care. Or to take them in and raise them. Now this is again alot of other issues, since once you start raising a wild animla, you can not just turn it loose latter, but would have to try to find a wild life shelter area that would take them in. Guest shiloh357
The human scent will eventually dissipate won't it? How long does human scent remain on an animal?

I don't know that answer shiloh...thats why maybe Dr Luke should leave them where they are...but provide warmth in that spot...straw or something and the mom may take them back... Just my experience....with bunnies, squirrls, birds, goats, pigs, kittens, puppies, lambs, I raised alot of these critters by bottle feeding. Its a big chore...worth it but hard...thats why I would leave them to see what happens before committing to raising them. Just my opinion though... I kept the dog in all day and am hoping momma will come back before night. One of the bunnies keeps ending back up outside the burrow. I think maybe momma may be moving him. That's the one the dog got. He's still alive. Unless he's crawling out by himself? I pray she comes back. There are lots os nasty critters out here at night. I know there is a skunk around here and possums galore. I'm really not wanting to adopt these critters. That rabbit is usually around at night. When I let my dog out he gives her chase to the shed. It's dusk now. Peace, Dave
