We are weak and fragile creatures, dependent on Him for our very existence. And even unbelievers know this deep down.

But those who receive Christ also are born again of Him and become true children of God. Joh 1:12 WEB But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name: Joh 1:13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Joh 10:10 AMP The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). This is true life. In Christ we truly live and move and have our being. Without Him we can do nothing, we are powerless.
