Just thought I would get some suggestions on some good books for my 11 year old son...He loved the "My Side of The Mountain" written by: Jean Craighead George. It was first published in 1959, what a wonderful story.

Anyone know of other outdoor type adventure books? That are appropiate for a child. Right now he is reading his grandpas "Pocket Watch Value and Description Guide" :( A real thick one too...geeeeesh. He and his papa spend lots of time taking apart and fixing old pocket watches. And wow to have to listen to what he has just read for the last hour makes my eyes cross :P But I listen patiently and ask questions.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Love and Blessings,

Angel

I probably should have put this in "parent" forum  A mod can move it if you want too.:wub:

I've read "My side of the Mountain," and I've watched the movie of "Where the Red Fern Grows"

Cute movie.

Excellent book.

WOA, Don't read my 'side of the mountain'!!! I read that as a kid and I have never been able to shake the desire to be a hermit. :emot-heartbeat:

Jack London wrote some good stuff. Call of the Wild.
