I would report in a heartbeat. Same punishment if only he tells the cops, I can bet he will never do such.

I would tell him that If he commits that crime I would then inform the police. This is one of the very few people I know to have a good heart even though he got involved with doing some pretty bad stuffs.

Failure to report a serious crime is a crime in and of itself. Just like that?

I'd be keeping whatever criminal activity that was about to happen from happening but also helping my friend by prohibiting them from doing something stupid. How do you do that without reporting him.?

Any crime small or large is crime. Just as there is no such thing as a small lie or big lie. I take it your friend trusted you enough to tell you about this. Let this friend no in uncertain terms that you will report him/her if they go forward with it and because you care about this person you can not let them move forward with hurting themselves or another by their action. I already did that, I threatened I was going to report him but he is not backing down cos he thinks I can never do that. He believes I will never stab him in the back. In his words, if trusting u will cost me my freedom then so be it. This is trust bro, with his life. Ever see anyone place such amount of trust in you?
