i am trying to point a friend to The Lord.

She wants a book to read  apart from the bible.

What is the most beautiful book you have read about Jesus? (Apart from the bible)

I would recommend Lee strobel's the Case for Christ. Like most books about Jesus it is not beautiful, but it is honest as that is what your friend needs more than pretty phrases.

Agreed, I was going to mention the same thing

@Shandy I always find it interesting and telling that people who are avoiding God think that the eye witnesses accounts of those who were with Him and in His time, are the least reliable. One wonders if they are really searching for the truth, when they cut off the main source of it from their search.  But I second @Who me in suggesting the case for Christ. It tells the real life story of an Atheists attempt to disprove God with the bible, who in his effort was faced with the undeniable facts of Jesus Christ, and got saved

I would ask her why she wants something apart from the Bible. Does she think it's unreliable, or boring, or hard to understand? Finding out why she's avoidant of it will likely be extremely important in your witness to her, if not now then at least down the line.

Your question arouses my curiosity. What we know about Jesus comes from the Bible. Any other book about Jesus either relies on the Bible, or is ficticious. I'm wondering, then, why someone would want to read a book about Jesus other than the Bible, unless they'd already read the Bible. The only exceptions I can think of might be church histories written during the life of Jesus or soon thereafter.

If she doesn't like the suggestions of books to read, ask her what do you believe?

Then when she has explained that. Ask what evidence do you have to support that view?

An additional question is.  What evidence would you accept?

I would suggest if she is serious to invite her to a Christianity explored or to an alpha course and to offer to go with her.

The web sites of the same names will let you search where the nearest course is.
