I have nothing against other translations, just when people push The Message as a translation or call it scripture.  It's not.  It is Mr. Petersons attempt to transform scripture through his poetic lens.  Being that there are so many real translations, why do you use a book that is not even a translation and full of idioms instread of a straight translation??

Not everyone has the bible knowledge that you do. These posts also reach non-Christians who are curious about Christianity. They can more easily relate to language that perhaps they would use.

@OneLight

We get that you don't like "the message" version.    I had already stated that I was NOT fond of that version, and did NOT use it and why I did not use it !! What more did I need to say ?  Go back and re-read what I said.

What is the principle taught? Principle is the ruling law here. Correct? Shalom.

Giving place (right) to the devil is the principle mentioned in the quote. Regardless of the "translation" per se. Shalom

I really dislike your translation you are using.  Here is what it says in the NKJV for Ephesians 4:26-27

"Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.

FYI - NKJV (nearly King James (a pervert) version omits many key aspects of the original scripture. Search it out. Shalom

Perhaps posting the verses in the 'easy to understand' and also say maybe the KJV/NAS/ASV to contrast/verify.
You still may not please everybody, but I appreciate your efforts Daily verse.
(PS. I was "born and raised" on KJV and do recognize many of the scriptures posted)
So I look them up in KJV and then get it. No problema..
I give away New testaments and bible promise books when witnessing.
Most are easy read versions,  the living bibles, easy readers.
These can get them lost, and help get them saved. They can then move on to the meat versions.
No matter the language, the word will not return void..(if they can just understand it)

Indeed. Read about the root of bitterness noted in Hebrews. Shalom

I did not expect you to, for the post you quoted, was addressed to someone else in the thread.  I was speaking to OneLight specifically.

I try to use a bible version which is in keeping with the topic I am addressing. Most of the time it is the N.I.V., N.H.J.V, and others. This particular occasion, I wanted to express the meaning of the verse in a contemporary way. Sometimes can be sooo rigid in their thinking, they leave out the fact that not everyone appreciates to thought of the verse that is expressed in King James, etc. My posts rarely use the Message, but it has it's place for the minority of perhaps new believers in Christ who what to understand what the verse says in ways they can easily understand.

Thank you for clarifying that issue.
