Any recommendations?  I prefer the workbooks (where you have daily reading, questions to answer, something to keep you interested in t he subject and paying attention).

One of my favorites is Henry Blackaby's "Experiencing God".

If you haven't read that one, give it a try!

You might like Spurgeon's 'Morning and Evenings'.

The College Press "Bible Study Textbook" series (59 volumes) might be more than what you're looking for, but I find it to be a thought-provoking and helpful accompaniment to reflecting on certain readings. As is Matthew Henry's commentaries.

Both are easily found with the googler finder machine. Personally, I enjoy using the "plug ins" of these series (as well as others) along with the e-Sword application, all of which makes it very easy to navigate them all in one place.

The Bible itself. (read my signature).

Tutelage of the Holy Spirit is first and foremost (2 Peter 1:20-21 / 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Bible teacher Chuck Missler used to teach that Revelation is the best place to start since it drives you back into the rest of the Bible to research the symbolism and doctrines. And it comes with a blessing for reading the book.
