Only in Christ (our Sabbath) can we find rest. The restlessness described in the lyrics is, ironically, spiritual sleep, a very uncomfortable state in which to try to navigate this life. I know we are to watch all the time but I believe what He says in Mark 13:21-23 is what we are supposed to watch out for and that is not be "sleeping" when apostasy comes les we wind up following the crowd after the supernatural without testing the spirits thus assuming the event to be the Holy Spirit without proving or reproving them with the help of Jesus Christ by the word of God. I agree that remaining spiritually awake will ensure that we remain faithful to our first love until He (Jesus) returns for us at the 7th trump. To me, spiritual sleep is directly opposed to walking in the Light. Spiritual sleep is the state that Satan would love for us to believe is a nice, comfortable place of compromise in which we can live in this world in peace, a place where our conscience never bothers us—just another one of his lies. We are all at risk of slipping into that “comfy” state unless we stay connected to the true Vine, led by His Spirit. The Spirit exposes (by indwelling and the written Word) the lies of Satan that “bomb” us on a daily basis. To stay awake, we have to know the One we trust, just as He knows us. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 NKJV 4 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,…. 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 NKJV 3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!
