    • Yes, they do work; they are effective
    • No, they don't work; they are not effective
    • Don't know
    • I have my thoughts but would prefer not to express them

@Ps37 FYI, did you look at the poll results lately?

(So what's your hunch about the doability of faith based tattoo designs?)

As I said earlier, I have no issue with anyone getting a tattoo of their own choosing, especially if it's faith-based.

Just not for me. :)

My USN hubby didn't get a tat either.

@Willa

Do you think that you are gradually getting accustomed to your daughter's and granddaughters' (faith based) tattoos?

(I know for some ppl they can take a while getting used to...)

I am possibly less repulsed by them and more tolerant.  They don't make me cringe when I see them.  To me the experience is like when a 3 year old takes an indelible black marking pen and writes on your new clean white leather couch.

Used to them?

Hi @Believer112 FYI...................poll started, above.

Seems like a lot of Christians find a tattoo an effective way of expressing a Bible verse that is close to their hearts. Like Willa's family does, for example.

My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also; and I'm sure other conversations have ensued as a result also.

I believe anything to draw curiosity and hopefully draw a conversation. The Word is being hidden as time marches on. But the conversation can't happen till we lose our tribalistic nature.

@Believer112

Thanks for your participation in the poll and comment.

Seems like Christian young ppl today have really taken to the tattoo parlor trip at 18.

almost every young girl I know has some sort of tatoo.
Even those very conservative types.

GodsGrace is right in her observation about it being the most conservative types who have it done.

it makes a statement of freedom in Christ. .. We got a lot of folks inked in our Church. Myself, the Pastor, his daughter and grand daughter included. Now, even my wife

I guess a point that can be made is that using every means available to aid the starting of conversations with ppl is widely viewed as advantageous among young Christians particularly, right?

Nah, don't want one anymore

@Neighbor Maybe if they had been more commonplace before you had reached the 'wrinkled' stage you would have been more likely to have gotten one, then?

All the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have spoken seem to have received them as witness tools, anyway.

PS: @Believer112

The example of nurses today stands out.

I am a nurse in a cardiac ICU. I am also pretty heavily tattooed. I am a well educated, well rounded nurse, and was raised with strong morals and manners. .. I am an extremely traditional person.

I can well understand also that, while the young Christian nurse might not regard the thing in itself as having inherent spiritual value, she might yet think it is too good an opportunity to be missed not to go to the tattoo parlor and receive a Scripture verse or witness friendly inking that will be the cause of ice breaker talks with patients or  discussions with nursing coworkers, seeing as it is in any case what all her nursing coworkers do.

All the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have spoken seem to have gone to the tattoo parlor for a witness tool, anyway.

(If this makes any sense?)
