We celebrate each year on this date July4 th as Independence Day, knowing  we are fully dependent upon God for the privilege of  being present to celebrate.

The text of the declaration of independence  of the sovereign States  of the United States of America was approved and signed.  The text itself  may be found in the national archives and online at https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/declaration-transcript

May each citizen so privileged as to be partaker in the results of that declaration also be so humble as to exalt God alone, being humbled in appreciation  for the privilege of such citizenship and residence which is from God alone.

Acts 17:26 ... He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,

Happy 4th! Rejoice in the privilege.

Thanks.. awesome and beautiful.. always need to remember bless you for sharing

Hi, Don't know about that one one way or another. Might end up throwing out the baby with the bath water.Personally I think the original manner in which each State was allowed to determine it's own manner of selecting two US senators made good contrast to the manner in which  House Representatives were selected/elected from each State.

If all of government becomes staffed  by temps there is little stability and even less knowledge of the workings of government. WhyI think having term limits on the executive branch ( President)  is absolute folly, for it makes a second term president a lame duck for four years. Plus it makes all foreign policy  a temporary thing that no foreign government can hope  to rely upon. Term  limits? Nah, beat me with ideas if you can but beat me by force of a calendar? Don't see the value there, and can see the negative consequences that have occurred in the USA because of it.

Let God raise up and tear down, don't term limit His will.

All the early government officials were in session for only part of the year. Most had to go home to plant the fields and harvest the crops. There was not year around sessions. There were not lifelong politicians making a fortune while in government.

Well I don't begrudge good public servants also  being wealthy or having the ability to  become wealthy.  Better that than having  one's that simply lose all that they gather to themselves and then come around dependent upon gifts and graft for something to live upon.

State legislatures are  part time positions as far as being in "session".  Local townships tend to have monthly meetings but the task of being a council person is a part time task. Even mayors tend to be part time positions where there are full time city managers.

In today's world  we would not survive as a nation with a part time federal  executive branch.  Our President won't have time for a Ben Franklin to send message by ship of the intent of the French as example.

Something must be right as this amazing experiment in government  the United States of America has been allowed by God to endure  approximately  236 years to date since it's constitution was ratified by the original 13 separate entities.

Of the few changes  made over the many years by constitutional  amendment about the only one I'd question today is the one of June 4, 1919*; and even that one demonstrates the slow deliberate process  required for change, as well as the steadfastness of the government system we are blessed by God to live under today. So yes this week is a good week at the USA, a week of remembrance and celebration of God's sovereignty and our liberty under Him.
