If so, this is covered in the OT- look up Saul and his visit to the Seer... and any other references to seer, witch, medium, and the like... they're all basically the same.... some are charlatans, and some are dabbling in powers that they do not understand what are, and cannot control... (for example, look at how shocked the seer was when she saw Samuel...) does this help at all? the story is in one of the Samuels, I think... I don't have a bible with me, or I'd check... ~Danette

She was a medium, specializing in 'necromancy' ... communicating with the dead. However, we know that this is not possible. Those practicing this form of witchcraft are actually calling up familiar spirits that impersonate the dead person. In the case of Saul and the witch of Endor, however, notice how surprised she was ... even terrified... because it was actually Samuel who was called forth at the Lord's beckoning. Whatever (so-called) powers psychics might have are also derived from the demonic realm. The Biblical warnings against such practices are clear. We are to trust our future to God, that He will reveal His plans for us in His own timing, and communicating with the dead is strictly forbidden also. Dose this make a person a practsiner of witchcraft or necromancey, just becouse he was born with it, or does this just make him possesed by the nemey even though there faith is all but unmatched is strength? The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. Is 47: 13 All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. 14 Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. Here are no coals to warm anyone; here is no fire to sit by. 15 That is all they can do for you

A Seer is another word for Prophet, which is described in 1 Sa 9:9. It was a man of God. Other words in the Scriptures are 'familiar spirits,' 'witch,' 'enchanter,' 'wizard' and 'sorcerer.' People today who are called 'psychics' often are nothing at all. Sometimes they were born with a God-given ability but perverted it for selfish gain. Some never had a gift but are just evil. Since witchcraft is the spirit of rebellion (1 Sa 15:23), it is no wonder that this spirit is becoming so common in our world today. Rebellion is rampant! However, I do believe that some people do have gifts to see the spirit world or some other type of gift and they don't know what to do with it or why God allowed that to happen to them. Perhaps in the next few years it will be made known because I believe that these are the end days. God may have a need for such a gift in the future for His reasons. They are not all perverted. They may contact spirits, but if they do they are evil angels, those who fell and are working with Satan. God will destroy them all. As christians, we should have nothing to do with them. We have numerous warnings in the bible about dabbling in the Spirit world (any spirit that does not confess Christ as God is of the occult); there is only one legitimate spirit world, and that is the Holy Spirit. However, I don't know if psychics, in particular those for example who see things, things in the future, things in other areas, etc those helping people find loved ones, are dabbling in the Spirit world or Occult. There are many things we don't understand about psychic power. We all may have gifts and powers, which are totally legitimate, yet we don
