Yes, you heard it, there can be victory!

Struggling with sin? Having problems commiting to God because of a little "pet sin"(whatever it may be) you just can't let go? Tired of looking back after falling into that sin over and over, and feeling the shame that comes with doing what is wrong?... You can have victory. YOU can have victory over sin. Seems impossible? Well, it is impossible. It is impossible to deal with sin on your own, and it is impossible to overcome that sin. It is only by the blood of Christ that sin can be overcome. In Romans 6 and 7, the Lord is speaking through Paul and telling us that sin *no longer* has dominion over us. That means, that because Christ died on the cross, and because you accepted him as a Savior, you can overcome sin through the strength, power, and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let me guess, "yeah yeah, I know. I have heard that a thousand times. I want away from this sin, but it just doesn't seem possible. I know God can do anything, but in my life?" In other words, still seems impossible?

Many of you on here know me, and there are many that don't. However, the Lord has blessed me greatly over the course of my short life. I am on here right now, because the Lord has given me victory over sin. Please let me say first, I am scum. I can't do anything right.. I struggle daily with having a prayer and bible reading time, I have problems witnessing, getting up in the morning for church, putting a smile on my face and having a testimony.. I can't do anything right.. I am scum.. It is only by God that anything has happened. For Twelve years, I have been endulging in a sin that had basically consumed my life. Two years ago, come this October, I finally went and admitted to my youth pastor that I was struggling because I relized that I could no longer do it on my own. This sin had taken over my life. Little, however, did he know, that I was endulging in things such as pornagraphy on the internet, and "experimenting" with a best friend of mine... not to mention that "pet sin".... for one and half years so far, I have tried and tried to let go of this sin.. said I trusted God with it.. and said that i knew there was an escape. But in my heart, I wasn't willing. I wasn't willing to let go of that thing that kept me away from God because I wanted that pleasure, even though it lasted for a season, but still for that season.

I remember the numerous days I would look and want to have a personal fellowship with God, but couldnt' because of my sin. I had a relationship with God because of salvation, through His blood, but I didnt' have fellowship. It was something I longed deeply for, and asked for, but I was too wrapped up in that sin, and desired that sin even more. The Lord had to drag me to my knees because I coudlnt' do it anymore. It has been some time since then, and that time since has been amazing. When I want to go back to that, the Lord reminds me of the pain and suffering that I went through because of it.. the same that many of you are going through right now. Our sin.. our flesh.. longs after the things of this world, whether it be the music we listen to, that TV station, our dress, sexual immorality of the sort, pride, or just not listenign to God(I am a stubborn fool :b: ).. whatever it may be... we can be free from it... You can be free from sin. Yes, YOU can be free from that sin.

First, we, as Christians, have to admit the sin, first to ourselves, and then to God. We have to admit that we have a problem with this sin, and bring it before the Lord. It doens't have to be an elaborate prayer, as I know I have envied others in church as they pray... even just something simple.. Tell the Lord about whatever it may be... and give it over to him. Admit that you can't do it on you own, and ask for his strength.

Wanna know what comes next? We, in our flesh, and the desires of this life and in the world.. we fail... You may not... but then again, we all fail. Along with that "failure" comes a broken heart, and one longing for the things of God, and not being able to have it at that moment because God can't fellowship with sin.... Sin can hide God's will from our lives. My pastor always says that the most miserable person you will ever see is a Christian outside of God's will. When we fail, we have to get off the ground, get on our knees, and pray. Ask for forgiveness.. Don't want a while, do it then. Let go of the pride, and come humbly before the throne of grace. God will forgive sin...

We have to be willing to get rid of the sin in our lives... We have to have such a strong hatred for that sin, that it turns your stomach to think about it. We have to relize the consequences of said sin, and remember the blessings that will come with the victory. We have to remember that it is only in God's strength that we can make it through.

The Lord has given me victory! I don't want to go through that torment again.. I don't want to have to wake, look at myself in the mirror, and know I sinned again.. again.. against the God that saved my life. My sin affected everyone around me. Like it not, sin affects those around you. I know it affected my church family when I wasn't smiling.. I know it affected my youth group when I wasn't being an encouragement.. I know it affected my old and new youth pastor in that it brought them to tears... I know it affected my family in that they dont see God's light shining... and I know I affected those at my school, in that they would ask, "You're a Christian???" or "If you're a Christian.. why did you _____?" My sin, my personal sin that I thought nobody knew about, affected everybody around me in some way. It hurt my spiritual life, and I know it displeased my God...

There can be victory in your life fellow brothers and sisters in Christ... there can be victory. We jsut have to say, "Lord, Here am I"

With love in Christ Jesus,

Crystal

Yes, there is victory in Christ !

We are overcomers!

When we see things as God sees them, sin is one thing we no longer want in our lives!

Blessings,

elkie

Good response! Indeed anything "not of faith" is sin. Indeed.

Agreed.

Peace

Great post.

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

Our faith overcomes through Jesus Christ. I've been completely free from those sins that use to entangle me for 2 months now. And my expectation is to remain an overcomer till the day I leave this earth. Keep faith, hope, and love and you'll stay on the straight path.

Amen Elijah :noidea: Praise the Lord! 40 days here as of this morning :( Thankyou for posting those verses :24: My youth pastor had instructed me to memorize Romans 6 and 7 when I came to him, so that I would have verses to use when that temptation came :24:

Amen Elkie :24: Amen abranchofHim :24: I am just so happy that we can overcome sin through Jesus Christ.. that sin no longer has that dominion over us... and I want to use my testimony of struggling with this sin to witness to others, and to help fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who are struggling :P For the past one and a half years, I had no hope. For these fourty days, God has given me hope, and a willingness :) God is just so good.
