Revelations and other books in the Bible clearly state what is going to happen. Why do we need modern day "prophets" when everything we need to know is already written down in the word of God? Giaour I was not going to read that thread through until I saw this post.. Thank you for it as I often have a similar if not same question.. I am going to have to go back and wade through it again to see if the answer was there somewhere because from what I did read it seemed to not quite answer the question.. Unless of course you are willing to just post a little synopsis for me here.. I did not really want to get off the subject of the persons dreams and ask you this.. Why indeed would God give me or you dreams or visions about destruction and devastation ...we watch it happen later that day or year or whatever.. Why does he do that? Yes I know the last day will have prophets and all that but I am not really asking about those people I am asking about Jane doe me kind of people.. is it that He wants us to pray... I would like to add when I dream about utter destruction I am always in a safe place in the middle of a closet like place..that is if the dream has me in it... I had a vision of a city on the coast being hit by a terrible earthquake and fire and a yellow bus somehow was going through the rubble and picking up anyone who wanted to get to safety.. if they did did not get on the bus .. they were in danger of fire and death. Those on the bus were safe somehow from any destructive forces.. Obviously that was a few years ago and instead of being upset when the quake did hit that day I thanked God for sending the bus to those who would get in.. I have never felt He told me because it was important to tell someone else what I saw or dreamed..but I never have understood why tell me at all? I was not the one who needed peace about it, to my knowledge.. I live on the other side of the country... I love hearing from the Lord no matter what form it is in and I am in no way complaining.. I just had an intersting thought on the subject.. If the watchmen are not doing their job then God will just bypass them and tell the people Himself... Kind of reminds me of the Scripture of the folks being called to the wedding feast... Are our watchmen compromised by the "world" Are we not afraid to call out and say "Judgment is come!!" Hey..I would think a LONG time before I told someone that... Gosh guys...we sure do need God to move on us and get us to a point of understanding Him in these times and His will for us.. Serious days for sure... Yes, these are serious days, indeed. If God has given you visions of coming destruction, he has told you for a reason. Either he wants you to pray, witness more vigorously or be one of his watchmen to tell others and warn them of what is coming in the hopes that they would repent, or all of the above. I think it is also to prepare us spiritually for a time of trial and testing in our nation far beyond what we could possibly imagine. Try to imagine 9/11 multiplied many, many times over or Hurricane Katrina & Rita or the Tsunami in Asia, only in the USA multiplied many times over. I believe that is the picture God has given to me and to many, many others. Why? I believe so we will pray, so we will be ever more aware of the shortness of time and the need to live holy lives and to be witnesses for him, and also to warn as many as possible that if they are not living for the Lord now, they need to repent before it is too late. God has given America lots of time and multiple warnings. Now, it's time for God to act. We have to realize that this is not only an act of his judgment, but it is an act of his mercy, because he wants as many as possible to be saved before he returns. He has given us so many opportunities, but so many have ignored them or slept right through them. Now, he says "enough!" It is the "midnight hour" for America, and this is coming soon! I think, too, that he has given a "heads-up" to many of us, because we will survive this and he has an assignment for us after his judgment has passed over us. He has given us this warning, so that we would get prepared emotionally, mentally and spiritually, though I don't think any of us here in America have any clue what we are in for. I, for one, have never gone through war or a natural disaster, so I needed the "heads-up" also for myself so that when it comes, I will have the understanding of why it has come and what needs to be done, most of which I believe God will give me at that time. I don't believe much time is left. I don't know an exact date, but I do believe it is soon. I can see the path narrowing down right before my eyes... abranchofhim, I can almost agree with you there but not quite.. sometimes God will allow us not to see as a training tool or because there is sin in my life. In The end I will be seeing clearly but not necessarily now.. My job to seek Him with my whole heart then He will reveal Himself.. Personal opinion and experience... Dad Ernie, those were some very interesting scriptures you picked for me to read.. "for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." I am embarrassed to say that but it is true. I cannot in good conscience say that my life is altogether what it needs to be.. But I do know I am not condemned but am urged by His Spirit to step up a little higher in Him than I was yesterday.. I want to know Him more tomorrow than I do today.. What does the bus represent- I've been on 2 buses in my dreams. One- First when I met my prayer partner (mentor) she was preaching/teaching from outside the bus-riding on a vehicle and I was listening from the bus-as we were traveling down the rode. Second dream- I brought my children on the bus and we were going somewhere:with many other people My mom recently- was dreaming of singing unto the Lord:when it ended someone tried to attack her-he couldnt-then she was on the bus-teaching others that where looking outside the bus-not to worry about the death out there. When the lord speaks to me in a dream or a vision most of the time he quickens to my spirit what He is saying in it.. Usually He showing me something about myself I need to know... Sometimes He uses others and when they speak what they believe He is saying it witnesses to my spirit as the truth... First I would tell you to get quiet and in prayer and ask Him to show You.. Then I would ask someone else if I did not get an answer.. Have you spent that quiet time before Him yet?? Really quiet?? If you haven't then give it a shot and then come back as tell us what the Lord has spoken to you or ask again... Otherwise perhaps someone will have an answer for you... Ok, you were asking about the bus in the vision I had correct? I believe it was saying that God had made a way of escape for anyone who would come to Him...A place of safety..
