If it glorifies Christ and is not sung like a yoga mantra. Here is a grea hymn by William Cowper 1731-1800 O How I love Thy holy Word O How I love Thy holy Word, Thy gracious covenant, O Lord! It guides me in the peaceful way, I think upon it all the day. What are the mines of shining wealth, The strength of youth, the bloom of health! What are all joys compared with those Thine everlasting Word bestows! Long unafflicted, undismayed, In pleasures path secure I strayed; Thou mad

And can it be that I should gain An interest in the Savior’s blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain— For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? Charles Wesley (1709-1788) English hymn writer and preacher Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: Luv that one! I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark or sin My hand will save. I, who made the the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord I have heard your calling in the night. I, will go lord, if you lead me I will hold your people in my heart I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have born my peoples pain. I have wept for love of them. They turn away. I will brake their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone. I will speak My word to them. Whom shall I send? (couris) I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them. My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide tiltheir hearts are satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send? (couris) (Daniel L Schutte) We sing that one occassionally at my church, it's a great hymn! My favourite is probably My Jesus, My Saviour. There is another one I love but memory escapes me at the moment!

This stanza blows me away because it speaks of God's grace and that we can bring nothing to the throne. It is all God and His love for us that keeps us from the punishment we deserve. Not the labors of my hands, Can fulfill Thy law's demands; These for sin could not atone; Thou must save, Thou alone: In my hand no price I bring, Simply to the cross I cling. Guest Potter's Clay
"How Great Thou Art" has to be my favorite. I sing it every time we have a storm. It just bubbles up inside of me. I sure miss the old hymns in the church service. I haven't found a church yet that still sings them. How Great Thou Art In The Garden Just As I Am Rock of Ages Amazing Grace Blessed Assurance Bringing in the Sheaves (reminder of my mother - she used to sing it in an Indian language, can't remember which one) The Old Rugged Cross Whispering Hope Where You There Holy, Holy, Holy This Is My Father's World Wherever He Leads, I'll Go He Lives

Turn your eyes upon Jesus Helen H. Lemmel, 1864 - 1961 O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There's light for a look at the Saviour, And life more abundant and free! Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace Thru death into life everlasting He passed, and we follow Him there; Over us sin no more hath dominion - For more than conquerors we are! Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace His word shall not fail you - He promised, Believe Him, and all will be well; Then go to a world that is dying, His perfect salvation to tell! Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace Helen H.
