HONOLULU - Junior Stowers raised his hands and exclaimed, "Thank you, Jesus!" in court last month when he was acquitted by a jury of abusing his son.

But his joy was short-lived when Circuit Judge Patrick Border held him in contempt of court for the "outburst" and threw him in jail.

Oh brother -

Court minutes said Border later dropped the charge because he realized Stowers' trial lawyer, Deputy Public Defender Carmel Kwock, did not have time to tell Stowers the judge had ordered both sides not to show emotion when the verdict was announced.

That's a pretty odd thing to tell people ...

it is a tremendously emotional experience to be in court and keeping your emotions totally neutral is quite an undertaking for someone under such stress...

May the Lord see to it this judge if forced from the bench, and otherwise punished for his contempt of God! +

Most people are not likely to wait for court to be adjourned to express their relief at the verdict. In this case the defendent? was not informed that he was to remain silent untill court was out. I do not know how loud the man got that the judge thought that he was disturbing the court but considering how Christianity has been under attack it's understandable how some could perceive this judges charges of contempt as biased and descriminatory.
