so you weren't being rude?

The thought never entered my mind.

My misunderstanding then.

What exactly did you misunderstand as being rude? I'd like to know.

Do have a response to the content of the post?

And who are you? Do you know anything at all? Those versions are ancient relics. Scholarship has moved on a long way, as any real scholar knows. The only modern version that translates like the KJV is the NKJV, no doubt for commercial reasons only.

Who am I? I am a child of God - who seeks to read his word as accurately as possible.

That is all a matter of surmise. What is not is the objective fact that all modern published translations made by professional scholars, except the NKJV, disagree with you on this verse.

Then I don't care if the older style English is harder to understand

There are those who prefer the Sword of the Spirit to be blunted, of course.

as long as it's accurate and doesn't meddle with God's Word.

It's not necessarily a question of meddling. Have you read that RSV preface yet?

So which verse would you rather have? A verse that's accurate but takes a bit longer to read OR a verse which is inaccurate, changes the meaning of God's Word but is quick and easy to read. I know which one I want.

The KJV is inaccurate. Sentence length is irrelevant in this verse.

Why anyone would want to use a translation beats me anyway, unless they have to.

unfortunately I am not fluent in Greek, Hebrew or Aramaic!

Unless you have some competence in Hebrew you have nothing to say in this particular matter. The above fact re translations seems to indicate that you have insufficient competence. Comparing two mere translations is a pretty unworthy activity, I think.

By the way, altering the quotes of others on the 'net is almost a criminal act.

The only thing I am guilty of is highlighting certain words in your post.

Quite so. Will you respect my request that you refrain from any alteration of my quotes in future?

You tell me!

Your posts drip of it.

Has it changed anything?

Your posts drip of it.

That is news to me. Perhaps you will select one or two instances to show what you mean.

Ok, simply cruise the last few pages and tell me what you see.

Of course, in no way does this mean that you are the only one, but this thread has already turned in the direction of all the other "Translations" threads, and it wasn't even meant to be a translation thread, per se (although I have no exact way to determine what is in another's heart concerning the intention of the original post- it clearly was stated to keep things concentrated on the one verse given).

Have a good day.

The only sarcasm is yours, ted.
