I'm sharing this information with my husband hoping to "scare" him into seeing a doctor.

We have a prompt care facility within an hour away.

I'm ready to go when he is.

I told him I was increasing his life insurance if he doesnt go soon.

I also told him I would remarry.

I think he's going to give in soon.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I leaning towards the DVT.

I did some research on it and boy do the symptoms match.

Thank you all VERY much.

Hubby can be quite stubborn but I'm a nag.

DVT was my thought as well.

Based on my medical background, and his symptoms, I recommend seeing a doctor ASAP.

...Yesterday my husband woke up limping on one foot.

...It progessed worse throughout the day.

...Took asprins.

Still no better. This morning it was even worse.

We noticed that the veins on his ankle and shin looked raised more than normal.

Like what vericose veins look like.

They were not like that yesterday.

Hi, sister

Based on your description it looks like a Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT.) The ailment is caused by obstruction of the deep veins in the leg due to thrombi (packs of platelets and fibrinogen) initiated at a place of damaged venous valves or endothelium (the inner lining of the vessel), which results in impaired circulation (distended veins), inflammation (pain) and functional claudication (limping.) If you press the calf it will elicit pain. In the coming days he may develop sensation problems, swelling of the leg and bruising of the skin. He needs to see an Angiologist (Vascular Surgeon) in order to ascertain the diagnosis with special investigations (e.g. doppler) and define an appropriate treatment. The main danger of DVT lies in the possibility of embolism to the lungs as the thrombi may dislodge from the original site and be carried elsewhere. It is imperative that he sees a doctor. The initial treatment may consist of anti-coagulants and analgesics.

Hope this helps.

I had this once when I was in high school. I had to keep my leg propped up (It was in the back of my calf) and not move around much too. So, if you suspect this, while waiting and convincing him keep him off his feet.

Yes that would be my guess too. Also there is a site called www.webmd.com try that. type in what is going on and see what comes up.

I realize that medical advice opens up a can of liability worms so any responses will be considered strictly suggestions and off the record.

Yesterday my husband woke up limping on one foot.

It progessed worse throughout the day.

He did not sprain it, it is not swollen, is not bruised.

We soaked it in very warm water.

We gave him a foot bath with epsom salts.

Took asprins.

Still no better.

This morning it was even worse.

We noticed that the veins on his ankle and shin looked raised more than normal.

Like what vericose veins look like.

They were not like that yesterday.

I told him he needed to go to the doctor to check it out but he refused because we dont have insurance.

Does anyone have ANY ideas as to what these symptoms could be?

I think if I can find information that shows him how serious it can be, I might be able to convince him to see the doctor.

Please pray too.

I can't help with the medical issue, sorry. But as for the financial end of it....some hospitals have an application you can submit to request they waive your charges. You have to request it from the billing office---they don't advertise it. If you can't get any satisfaction, ask to talk to a hospital social worker.

(I was thinking of gout as a possibility; but you said it's not red or swollen, so probably not)

I'll pray.

Peace,

Fiosh

He's in awful pain.

Benedryl not helping.

He said that he would go in the morning if not better.

Told you I was a nag.

Every time he asked for a drink or pillow, I said "go see a doctor first" lol

Hard to give sympathy to someone who wont help themselves.

I love this man but he is being selfish.

How dare he risk making me a widow.

How dare he risk making my son fatherless.

I'm getting angry now, sorry.

Just so frustrating.

Like watching someone drink poison and do nothing to help.

Looking to buy a stun gun so I can get him to the doctor.

Sometimes Men are like babies when it comes to this. I know mine is. stubbord as can be. If he is in pain and can not get up tell him either he goes willing or you will call and ambulance to take him there. Or make a doctors appt. for him and don't give him an option. Tell him there is no discussion and that's that. I know where I live there are clinics or the ER you don't have to pay right away and there is finacally help for those that can not pay. Tell him it will coast more to barrie him than it will to go ,get check. I will pray that he will go.
