This is how far we have gone. At least in my eyes.

I was with my fiancee tonight...and she was getting dinner fo us....

I happened to flip the channel to the news..and they had a program on..(it may have been fox...but I am not sure.

The program was talking about the impact television has/is/will have on society.

I figured I would watch for a few minutes to see what people were saying.

I enjoyed a guy who said that reality tv was the farthest thing from reality. They actually make me sick.

But then...some other guy said that we need tv. He said that we read the newspaper, watch the news...movies that have violence...and we need comedy shows...and reality tv to entertain us...to make us feel good about ourselves....and to relax.

I sat on the couch stunned that I was hearing this. In the background, quite a few people were nodding their agreement.

But then....as if to try and redeem the utterly ignorant statement just made...a lady spoke up and said....If we want to feel good about ourselves... and if we don't want to be depressed by what is on tv.....then we need to TURN THE THING OFF!!!! GO OUTSIDE!!!!! AND INTERACT WITH THE REST OF SOCIETY!!

The commentaor didn't like that so he said..."But before you do, finish watching this program!" And then a commercial break.

I turned the thing off.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a day when we live without interaction.

Where visiting a neighbor at his or her home is slowly being replace by email, instant messaging....and (sorry) forum boards. We go to Walmart to do our shopping, and at the checkout line...we have card swipe thingies...we don't have to interact with the cashier anymore...and it is evident in the way they say.."Have a nice day."

We are a society that is in a rush to go nowhere. We want things now...if not sooner, and in the rush to get where we are going...we forget that we live IN A SOCIETY!!

We say "HEY!! How are you doing," as we walk briskly past the coworker without stopping to see what really is going on. I do it too.

Someone asks us, "what's up?" We quickly reply with the standard, "Not much," without so much as a glance at the person who asked us.

We don't relate....we are focused on our own lives.

Sure, we are seeing more and more apostacy....but that is not only from faith in Christ....it is from a connectedness in our society.

Gone are the days of borrowing milk, sugar or bread from a neigbor you don't know.

Gone are the days when we went to the grocery store to chat more than to shop.

Gone are the times when sitting on the porch with your wife, husband, or friends was what we looked forward to, and nevermind what needs to be done.,.....it can wait till tomorrow.

Even our kids are feeling the impact of the change. They come home with more work than their parents. They stay busy with school work until 10 or 12 at night. They stay busy at school with activities until 5 or 6.

We are forcing them to grow up before they are ready, and thus, they want to be treated like an adult because they have an adults work load, but have failed to learn what it means to be mature!

AHHHHHHHHHHH

Our friends, family, neighbors and co-workers are slipping through our fingers, Christians....what are we going to do about it?

John answered the second question, sags4Christ the first. That is great.

John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

This is not the same word for power used in Phillippians 3:10. That word is dunamis (dynamite) it means 'force' and 'miraculas power'. The word here is exousia. It means power of choice, liberty of doing as one pleases.

When Jesus said:

John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

He meant it was His choice to lay down His life and His choice to take it again.

What choices (exousia) (the fellowship of his sufferings) are we making and what miracles (dunamis) (the power of his resurrection) do we see?

And these signs shall follow them that believe ; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Sagz: It's worse than you think. I go to Winn Dixie for my groceries. Now I go to the automated cashier, scan my own groceries, pay a machine and go.

No more interaction with anyone, unless there's a computer glitch. Then a customer service girl comes over to help..otherwise, I'm on my own.

Yes, *(guilt-guilt) I am guilty of just saying, "Oh, I'm fine..." and taking off. My husband will tell you a lot more than you were wanting to know, if you ask him how he is, (lol)!

And during this Christmas season...I'm just wondering...has anyone seen the new Target commercial?

It's full of dancing girls, dressed as Christmas ornaments...ornaments with legs in fishnet stockings.

It's commercialism at it's finest. So sickening, even my hubby rolls his eyes when that commercial comes on.

Buy, buy, buy, buy....buy and spend till you're blue in the face. Buy now, pay later...rev up that Visa, rev up that Mastercard...rev up that American Express.

Spend, spend, spend....spend till you're so in debt you'll never get out.

2 Timothy 3

1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth--men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

2 Timothy 4

3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are these for today? Or are they something that was happening when Paul wrote these words? I am not a student of prophesy...but I was reading this today and it struck me that every one of these behaviors is predominant in our society today.

And with everyone lately coming here with their own doctrine....being taught and listening to what they want to hear, well.....does this scare anyone?

I for one....if true....amd completely ready to go home! But it honestly grieves me to know that people rae profaning the Lord and His work.

Oh well....I would enjoy some insight.

Thanks! :o

The time will come ...... There will be .... both are phrases in the verses you identified.

That sort of time had not yet come at the time the books were written. Therefore the verses speak of the future in relation to the days in which they were written. That means it was written down to warn us today, when we see these things taking shape before our very eyes.

Shadow made the comment that we are letting the people slip through our fingers. And He is right. Since God is only going to save the remnant of the church that we know, it is time that we all realized that everyone in the Church who is not part of the remnant is part of the deceived. The deceived are the tares spoken of in the parables of the kingdom. And EVERY religious congregation is filled with them, because they were taught by false prophets for generation after generation after generation.

Every tree, congregation, that does not produce good fruit will be cut down in it's entirity. And no amount of debate will prove the scriptures wrong about it.

Since the following applied to the old covenant, it applies in an even greater way to the Church that Yeshua gave his life for.

Isa 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show MY PEOPLE THEIR TRANSGRESSION, and the house of Jacob THEIR sins.

Eze 14:11 That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all THEIR TRANSGRESSIONS; but that they may be MY PEOPLE, and I may be THEIR God, saith the Lord GOD.

Eze 37:23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with THEIR idols, nor with THEIR detestable things, nor with any of THEIR TRANSGRESSIONS: but I will save them out of all THEIR dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be MY PEOPLE, and I will be THEIR God.

Don't you see? Your dwelling place as a Christian is the doctrine you have dwelt in since you started seeking the truth. And the truth is that the true Christian has no need to debate with anyone, and will not allow anyone to debate with him, concerning the doctrine of Yeshua Christ.

The true Christian hears his voice, which includes the voices of his followers, and will not listen to an imposter.
