They didn't use "grape juice" in leiu of wine..they drank wine. It was a cultural norm and harmless, assuming they didn't overdo it. Still, such things as marjiuana was not used back then...the very thought of this is ridiculous.

Also, as for the wine Jesus drank, it was real wine mixed with real water or either boiled into a paste(thereby evaporating all alcohol). The wine we can buy in stores today would fall under strong drink in Biblical terms. This is not to say we are to resort to legalism and cast an umbrella of sin over a glass or two of wine. Oh yes, I heard that argument before on forums.christiansunite.com. Oh boy, there were at least 2 people who believed that Jesus smoked weed. That is the silliest assertion/assumption I have ever heard in my life. Wouldn't Jesus be called a hypocrite if He did that? If He told others sorcey was evil, and He did it Himself ( which He definitely DID NOT!), than our Lord would be a hypocrite, and the whole Bible would go down the drain. I'm ashamed when even some CHRISTIANS believe this hogwash. God bless you all.

It's a shame. These days, we have people coming up with all these vile conspiracy theories, from Jesus being rejected because He was a homosexual, to Jesus smoking weed. Those are unscriptural, and are vile and disgusting! May the Lord forgive those people who think such vile things! God bless you all.
