Yes. Agree with all the choices they make? No. Those two things don't have to go hand-in-hand. Respect them as your parents, your mother who bore you and your father who...somehow managed to win over your mother

Do you still need to respect them? Can you continue to god with that 1 sin? This has been a hard one for me to learn...see my parents are not living for the Lord...they are always saying stuff about my ministry...but I do have to honor them. I have learned to keep quiet and not say much anymore...You have to always love your parents...even when it is hard

I know many people who are rebellious, and purposefully bother their parents to "get back at them". That is a sin. Basically you are to listen to your parents, unless they are telling you to do things that are against Christ. Even if your parents don't always make sense to you, you are commanded to obey and respect them.

I would agree with this. "Honor" your father and mother. Scripture is what it is... God didn't put an "unless" in the commandment.

Guest Biblicist
Honor and respect are not the same thing. What is the difference? I can honor my mother, by showing her respect, even if I do not have respect for her. Some things just have to be worked on.
