Anger

Do you think that it's okay to get angry with God?

Do you think God prefers our honesty, or our respect?

It isn't an issue of ok or not ok. The fact is that we do get angry, well I do for sure.

Once we are angry, it is quite clear that God knows about it and that we shouldn't be foolish enough to even try hiding it from Him.

:noidea::o

No sense in trying to hide something from God that He already knows.

"Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath" (Ephesians 4:26).

It is okay to be angry at God.

But, it is not okay to sin against Him by using that anger as an excuse to turn away from Him . . .

- or by using that anger as an excuse to discredit Him to others

- or by using that anger as an excuse to hold bitterness toward Him.

Respect for God includes being honest with Him and with ourselves.

So, we must respect Him enough to be honest with Him about our anger toward Him.

He understands and will even help us overcome it; if we let Him.

A lack of respect for God is fearlessly displaying anger towards God, unapologetically.

Psalm 111:10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;

all who follow his precepts have good understanding.

To him belongs eternal praise.

David was a "man after God's own heart", you will never find him disrespecting God with an "honest" display of anger towards Him.

God is always right, who are we to be angry? You'll get much better results by begging God to forgive your foolish anger and asking for understanding about His decision to do whatever it was that triggered your anger.

It's good to teach your children to fear God as well.

Matthew 18:5-7

5)"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.

6)But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

7)"Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!

A good example of anger towards God in the Bible is in the story of Jonah.

Jonah's Anger at the Lords Compassion... JON CH4

"I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. Now, O Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live."

v4. "But the Lord replied, "Have you any right to be angry?"

Jonah says again... "It would be better for me to die than to live."

v.9 "But God said to Jonah, "Do you have any right to be angry about the vine?" "I do" he said. I am angry enough to die."

v.10. "But the Lord said, "You have been concerned about the vine, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city."

Don't you think we should confess our anger before we can be forgiven for it?

Of course we don't have the right to be angry, but the fact is, we are, at times.

Not showing it to the One who knows about it anyway, is a lie.

Begging God for forgiveness for our foolish anger? Sure, but only after confessing it.

Did you happen to notice that Jonah was asking God to kill him while feeling angry?

Jonah was no fool. He knew all too well God's power, especially after the fish incident.

I, personally, love God too much to ever be angry with Him.

This life is too short and eternity with God is well worth the patience.

I have never been angry with God; perplexed and mystified, yes; angry no. :emot-handshake:

YA, but look at the reason WHY Jonah was angry...He hated the Ninevites and wanted to see them perish. He did not want them to be saved, and herein lies his mistake. His anger was motivated by selfish and hateful motives.

I was just angry because I thought that God was neglecting me.

I also think that God judges the heart, and knows exactly WHAT drives our anger.
