Could someone shed some light on this verse?

Is Paul referring to the curse of childbirth, initiated by God in Genesis?

___________________________________________________

The Curse upon the Woman (Gen. 3:16).

The woman was the second of the Earth creatures to be cursed because she was the second to yield to sin and the devil. After getting the serpent to yield to him the devil was determined to get the woman to sin and through her get man to rebel against God. Eve listened to the serpent and began to doubt God's Word, and this doubt let to open transgression of the Law. The curse upon the woman was, "I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."

Before the fall she was equal with the man, and childbirth was to be a pleasure without pain, but now she must be ruled by the man and have multiplied pain, sorrow and conception. Now man is the recognized head of the woman and should be her spiritual advisor (1 Cor. 11:1-16; 14:34; Eph. 5:21-33; Col. 3:18; 1 Tim. 2:11-15; 1 Pet. 3:1-6).

So are you saying that because Adam deliberately chose to sin that is why he and all men should be women's spiritual advisors? :24:

I thought that the man became the woman's spiritual advisor because the actions of Eve proved that women are more easily Spiritually-deceived.

Adam was not deceived....just disobedient.

I sure hope not. Since the second Adam, Jesus has come, we have met The Equalizer! In Christ we are returned to the Pre-Fall time in Christianity. However, to be sure, there was NEVER any curse on the woman or man---simply consequences.

So are you saying that because Adam deliberately chose to sin that is why he and all men should be women's spiritual advisors? :emot-hug:

Actually, the roles of Man and Woman were created in the Garden BEFORE sin. Read Genesis 1 & 2 and Oh, I don't know, the whole Bible. . .

The reason sin is passed down through man is because man, Adam, was not decieved, he outright disobeyed God. God told him personally, specifically, not to eat of the tree. Sin is not passed through woman because Eve was decieved. Clearly, God held Adam to some sort of responsiblility for his wife, thus the role of spiritual advisor. How did Eve know that they were not to touch the tree, God did not tell her? Adam did. God told Adam that before Eve was created. (Genesis 2:16) Adam told her because God expected Adam to be Eve's spiritual advisor. It is obvious that Adam shared this information with her since the Serpent questioned her and she was able to answer knowlegeably. (Genesis 3:2-3) This was not a difficlut job before the fall.

This has nothing to do with the roles of man and woman. It only means that it will be more difficult to follow those roles, as set by God at the creaton of Mankind, because of our sin nature. Which is ever-so obvious today!

Well said, FA. :24:

Yes, Christ is indeed the great equalizer, knocking down the walls that divide us.
