Ruth,

you have a point, I do not know all of Gods ways.....

I am puzzeled at why a healing will come sometimes, and other times not....

my wife is an example, fallen arch problems, unable to hardly walk and then God sends her RUNNING AROUND.... literally running...... another time, an injury leaves her with frozen shoulder and none of the doctors, with all the physical theropy can fix it, she suddenly raises her hands in worship and she has full movement again...... another time, a large truck is about to hit her and she is leaveled by an unknown being protecting her from the truck running over her, and now she is down in the back and can not work...

we keep praying...... keep seeking........ are we doing what we are suppose to be doing?? are we walking in the Spirit? or are we still walking too much in the flesh?

is God moving us to a new level? one where we need to be broken even more?

a lot of question that may not ever be answered on this earth....

Ruth, if I knew the answer to why some are healed here and some are not, i would not be here......

My sister can not even sweep her kitchen floor, she still waits..... and as was said before in this thread, she is growing weary of waiting.....

I do not know why she has to wait like she is..... if some one knows, i would like to know, so she could receive the healing..... is she living in sin? no, is she unrepentant? only she and God know that.... is she doing something wrong? i do not know... if you do, please tell me.....

blessings...

mike

Dear Mike,

The only answer I have been able to arrive at through reading the Scripture and praying is that God uses trials and tribulations of all manner - including sickness and disability - to strengthen us in our faith. If when times are hard we turn around and blame God and fall away, then that doesn't say much for our faith. But if through all our trials we still praise God and give Him the glory and thank Him in, and in spite of, our circumstances, then our faith is made sure. I do not believe that the reason we do not receive healing is because of some sin in our lives or lack of faith or other such things - at least, not necessarily. Sometimes it suits God's purposes to work in and through our weaknesses. And what (or who) is the pot to dare to say to the potter, why have you made me thus? All I know is that I trust God completely and implicitly, that He is good and will work all things together for good. That's my present understanding, anyway, but I do get discomfited when someone like our Pastor tries to tell me that if I/a member of my family is not healed then it is because we are "blocking" God's healing. I just can't find that in Scripture. Hence my OP because I don't want to disagree with my Pastor just for the sake of it, but I cannot at present find any Scriptural backing for his opinion.

In Jesus,

Ruth

Shalom Ruth,

Yes, I have studied this quite a bit and had several experiences in my own life.

Let me first say that G-d is G-d and we are not. While that seems simple, it is much deeper than we kn ow. IOW, we do not always know G-d's thoughts and plans and we cannot lock Him in a box and say He will always heal in this life. He does not.

Jesus did not heal every person He came in contact with. Some He did and some He did not.

Case in point, our 3 1/2 year old son collapsed and went into cardiac arrest while playing at the playground, actually walking down the steps to the playground. His daddy did CPR. the paramedics did CPR and advanced medical treatment.

When I got there, I dropped to my knees and prayed, and prayed and prayed. Our youth pastor came and prayed with me. The crowd had gathered by this time, as the paramedics laid little Benjamin on the street to to work on him. I saw several people from church praying. However, as much as we BELIEVED Benjamin would live, he did not. That is because we must pray according to G-d's will and it is not always G-d's will to heal, in THIS life. G-d chose NOT to heal our son.

A few months later, my husband, a police detective was injured in the line of duty and shattered his upper shoulder and rotator cuff requiring pins, rods and several surgeries. At the end, he could never work as a cop again and had to retire from the police force ad we had a long process and many exams to get the disability. The WHOLE time we and our pastors prayed that G-d would heal my hubby and it would not be necessary to continue. The WHOLE time we prayed that if it was not G-d's will to make the claim, that He would guide us in that direction. Long story short, my hubby is permanently disabled and we live on disability. STILL, we believe G-d is healing my hubby and sustaining him, but the disability was and is the right thing to do in the meantime.

Another time, I lay literally dying from Acute Leukemia. I was bleeding from all inside my body and the blood was coming out faster than they could put it back in. I went into ICU with a tube down my throat to breath because my lungs shut down. I could not pray, but my family, pastor, friends from all over the world could and did. The hospital told my hubby I may not make it. By the grace of G-d I did, only to be in critical condiction a week later, still in the hospital with an allergic reaction to the chemo drug. My brain swelled, my temp went over 106 and I started seizing. Again, my hubby was told I would not make it, and if I did, I would definitely be brain-damaged and have kidney damage from the drug.

Well, praise G-d, I did recover and I have no brain or kidney damage. G-d healed me using many means.

And just a month ago, I had 2 tumors in my breast that were bothering me. They had been documented since 1997. When I went in to the cancer specialist, he told me they were GONE. And the dr said these types of tumors don't just disappear on their own. So, in this case, we have a miraculous healing.

I say all this to tell you that G-d heals according to HIS WILL and sometimes He uses drs and sometimes He uses drugs and sometimes He uses miraculous means. ALL healing comes from Jesus.

In answer to your question, with all due respect, I believe your pastor is dead wrong. It is not faith that heals you, it is Jesus that heals. We are to have faith that Jesus is G-d and He will heal according to His will. We are to pray according to His will. And your son should continue to seek his claim for this may be the way G-d is providing for your son. It is not a lack of faith, it is walking out where you are.

I pray that in some small way, my experiences and study in this area have helped clarify things for you. Feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to help.

Your experiences and understanding are much the same as mine; some people, some times are called to glorify God in and through their suffering. And some people, some times, are called to glorify God through their healing. Which means that not all people are always healed. And who are we to demand which way God would have us glorify him - whether through healing or patient endurance? And if we demand perfect health as of right, then what of such Scriptures as 1 Peter 1 : 6-7?

"In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith

All the above answers are wonderful and I do not listen to any one who says my healing depends on something unless I know it is a DEFINITE WORD from GOD that has witness to The Holy Spirit within me,In the Word, There are many different types of healing, examples for us to follow, to study. We cannot put God in a box and come up with reasons why something isn't happening. One thing I know It is accordding to His will and in His timimg. I have been places where someone gats a word and calls for the person to come forward, places where someone goes forward and gets healed, someone wanting healing so bad and is still waiting God is in control.

My mom..who was not a christian woman by any means, got terribly burnt on her right hand, I know she would not let me pray for her, so i went and got burn salve and applied it to soothe the pain, The Spirit of God rose up in me and said Be Healed..hand! I never spoke like that and that woman was totally healed and I sit here waiting for a healing for 10 yrs now.

I think that we need to get the oil and lay hands on ourselves as well for healing . Pray to Jesus... Ask....It all is for Gods Glory and wait upon Him. Put yourself in positions, in places where The Spirit Of God moves. One can be healed just goinf and standin during a praise and worship time.

As a medical person someone messed up somwhere and Jesus will straighten it out.

Jesus has a appointed time......I am praying... Love in Christ Patricia

Thank you for sharing your studies and your experience! The above I quoted because that's where the real healing power is. God is sovereign, and will heal when it is His will to do so.

I too have had several incidents of healing that have left the VA doc's scratching their heads because they couldn't explain it. Mostly minor injuries and no broken bones, but I don't have health insurance, or much money for the copays even at the VA so I don't go for every ache and pain. The Lord has done a good job of "keeping me together" so far!

One other thing that I'm reminded of: a few years ago a believing friend of mine died in his sleep unexpectedly. He left behind a wife and two kids, and when the autopsy results came out, his body was full of cancers of various kinds. The strange thing is he'd never been sick - no symptoms - other than the usual colds, etc. The Lord helped her deal with the loss, and she said something I've never forgotten. She said:

"I know he's home with Jesus, and that's the ultimate healing. Home, with Christ."

I really need to know the truth of God's Word concerning physical healing of a miraculous nature - i.e. not healing of vague aches and pains, but healing of injuries that cannot be repaired in any natural way. My 20 yr old son badly fractured his right elbow - he had a fragment from the raidial head pinned which has healed nicely, but a fragment from the capitellar (end of humerus) was too small to be fixed and was therefore excised by the orthopaedic surgeon. He now has severe pain in his right arm and it sometimes locks in position and he has to manually unlock it using his left arm to raise his right arm to shoulder level and then slowly let it down until the elbow joint unlocks, and he can no longer do his work as a carpenter. He has to resort to painkillers just to lead even a semblance of normal life. It would appear that there is also damage to a nerve or something because he gets a lot of referred pain up and down the whole arm. There is only one surgical option open to him - debridement - a process where the rough bone that has resulted from excision of the frament is smoothed so as hopefully to allow a smoother operation of the elbow joint instead of the crunchy, graunching operation he has at present. However the success rate is only 60 - 70% and the improvement if there is one is only temporary so that the operation has to be repeated. Since he is only 20, he must think long and hard about such surgery and how many times it can be repeated and whether it will be successful. My problem is that our Pastor has told my son that he needs to believe God for his full healing and has futher suggested that his claim for compensation is standing in the way of God's healing (the person he was working for at the time of the injury had supplied him with step ladders that had no central brace and which "pancaked" while he was standing on them to paint windows. He was, however, fully insured.) This doesn't seem right to me, not the least because if he were to give up the claim, he has already contracted with the law firm that is representing him to pay their fees and they have already done a huge amount of work. He would not be able to honour that contract if he just dropped the claim.

My understanding of the WHOLE counsel of Scripture is that God can and does heal the body (although more importantly He heals the spirit) but not always and that to "claim" healing as though by right, is presumptuous and doesn't acknowledge God's soveriegnty. Moreover, I think that to be told to examine one's life for things that may be "blocking" God's healing can all too easily lead to condemnation. What if it is not God's will to heal, either at all or even at that time? Joni Erikson wasn't healed and yet look how God has used her in her paraplegic state.

When Peter walked on the water it was in response to Jesus calling him to come. He didn't just decide to "have faith" and jump out of the boat and GO to Jesus. I think that healing is the same: we can pray for healing but we must wait until Jesus personally instructs us to receive healing through faith. Our Pastor seems to think that it is ALWAYS God's will that believers enjoy perfect health and therefore full healing of injuries such as my son's.

I'd be grateful if anyone who has studied the Word of God could help me understand what the Bible REALLY says on this matter and how we should pray.

In Jesus,

Ruth

YOU should pray to God for the healing and believe that the healing will happen. Ignore any doubting thoughts and ignore what you see; continue to stubbornly believe that God will heal it.

If you would like your faith for healing further built up, get on metacrawler search engine and research a guy named Smith Wigglesworth. He was called the apostle of faith. He lived in the first half of the 20th century. He had a large healing ministry and he even raised the dead. This guy was for real. You can buy books of his sermons. Popular book is titled, EVER INCREASING FAITH.
