Umm. . . Hello! RAID!!!

What's everyone so freaked about?

I don't even want to think about how that park would smell after you used raid. I found a huge spider in my room awhile ago and it fell behind the desk, so I sprayed some raid and then recovered the spiders body. What I didn't account for was the smell, I slept on the couch that night. :noidea:

Well, this made me hugely curious, so I looked for pictures.

Picture

High-Res Picture (Will take forever to load on dial-up)

Wow... that is freaky. And the spiders are tiny, I saw a movie clip with a researcher holding one, it's about the size of a quarter, if that.

A spider the size of a QUARTER is TINY ????

Well... not TINY but considering the web they're pretty small. Up to about a quarter is doesn't scare me, I get ones that are probably double the size of a quarter in my bedroom quite frequently. And I live in a good part of Canada, I went to visit my aunt and uncle on the coast... oh my. I walked into their basement one night (where my family was staying) and found a spider standing on the floor. It was literally higher up than my ankle. It looked kind of like this.

I've also found a tarantula in my backyard. At least I think it was a tarantula. It was about the size of a man's fist and hairy. I don't know what else it would be, so I assume somebody let there pet get loose.

So Fraught, how big are the spiders where you live if quarter-sized ones are huge? Also, I assume that such a place must be in heaven, so could you tell me a bit about that? :)

i have never seen a spider with an actual body size larger than a fly, say 1/4 inch. (except in captivity or in books). we have some we call daddy-long-legs but we barely consider him a spider now his legs may be inch and a half - 2 inches. most spider bodies no bigger than a small ant. i have lived in virginia, west virginia and ohio.

i have often thought i would like to live in canada, but perhaps you have changed my mind. :emot-hug:

Wow... I'm jealous... a spider the size of a fly? Those don't even bother me anymore, I found one hanging from my glasses once :) We also have daddy long legs, but I love those, I let them crawl on my arms. Anyways, Canada's nice, you should come, just bring raid.

and what do you mean you live in teh GOOD part of Canada? :)

It was STANDING on all 8 legs. Bully. Besides, it was tall enough that it could have been a normal spider standing on two legs. And I mean the good part of Canada for spiders, anything coastal gets scary spiders. So there!

I HATE wolf spiders... I was climbing up on to a fallen tree once... and there was a crack. And when I put my hand over the crack a huge wolf spider crawled out. It was mean. :24:
