Many conservative Republican voters were disappointed when the top four candidates were no-shows at the Values Voter Presidential Debate held Monday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

In today's climate, I doubt I would show up at most debates. Most of them are waste of time, I don't care who's sponsoring them.

Unanswered questions and empty lecterns characterized the Florida debate, as the Republican front-runners Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney failed to attend the debate, noting conflicts with their schedules.

Despite the absence of the top four, values voters still brought questions before them, and were met with silence.

"They will regret the decision," said Faith2Action President Jan Folger, who is also a member of the debate host committee. "Because they snubbed us, they will not win, because we will not follow their lead."

Accepting their invitations were Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback, Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Maryland conservative Alan Keyes, Chicago businessman John Cox, and Reps. Tom Tancredo of Colorado, Duncan Hunter of California and Texas' Ron Paul.

I don't watch them most of the time, and they don't sway my vote anyway.

In my most pleasant dreams, Huckabee, Brownback, or Tancredo usually gets the Republican Nomination.

In my nightmares it's Giuliani, or (SHUDDER) McCain!
