Guest abbajesus
CAN A CHRISTIAN SUPPORT WAR? Jesus said "Peter put down your sword." God said Thou Shalt Not Kill (or murder depending on which Bible you read) Jesus said "Blessed are the Peacemakers" Jesus told the stoners to put down their stones. John 8:7 Ever since Jesus walked the earth (He still does in Spirit) there have been those who thought that the path of nonviolence is what Jesus taught. Leo Tolstoy wrote THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU .. a book on Christian nonviolence which influenced profoundly Mahatma Gandhi and Dr King. There have been many pacifist branches of Christianity.. Mennonites, Catholic Workers, etc. When Jesus said "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's" He did not say that anything IS Caesar's when Caesar is a violent occupier. A SECOND CONSIDERATION: FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN JUST WAR.. IS THIS WAR JUST? http://www.mfso.org http://www.catholicworker.com Stoners put down your stones Peter put down your sword. Thou shalt kill no being These are the words of the Lord. Is a war on terrorism an oxymoron or a contradiction in terms? Some say one needs a thorn to remove a thorn .. but others say night disappears automatically in the rays of God's light God designed a nonviolent world

Guest idolsmasher
Most bloodthirsty terrorists aren't followers of Christ though, of course that can depend on your point of view, but I think you know what I mean. Those who claim to be Christian are supposed to follow Christ.

Guest idolsmasher
Things would have been different, but the world would go on spinning, sunrise, sunset, spring, summer, winter, and fall. Life is not the end, only the beginning.

God used WAR throughout the ages to destroy whole populations who were against Him. He called for even the slaughter of 'innocents'. CHILDREN. READ your Bible. He spoke of His WARRIORS. He "readied David's arms for battle". There is a time and season for everything. I'll tell ya what - if you want to be a pacifist and believe that that is what God calls you to - by all means, do so. When your home and family is attacked and everything you have pilfered, let them have it and kill you and your loved ones. Just respect those of us who don't believe God's Word calls us to that and leave it at that, okay? We won't shove our Bible on you, and, in turn, you won't shove yours on us, okay? Please, MUST we go through this again???

You're outnumbered.
Guest yod
That is a flat-out lie. Just because no one agrees with you does not mean that we don't "tolerate" your pacifism. Would you have us all be silent while this non-biblical agenda is promoted? It is intolerant of pacifists to equate this with being super spiritual. Yes, you are outnumbered....for a good reason.
