God bless your beautiful feet!

My feet are as ugly as sin! :24:

But, thank-you! :24:

No sweetie, not in God's sight. If you bring the Good News to your unsaved friends, your feet are considered Beautiful, by the one who created them.

I think God was distracted by someone the day he was making my feet. (My guess, it was Scarletprayers up to some cwaazy redneck business again! :whistling: )

Then again, my feet may indeed serve some useful purpose for the kingdom. Because when I take off my shoes, people take one look and exclaim, "GOOD LORD!"

Wow, kari, we must be related....that's the same reaction I get (after the shock wears off!)

How close should I be with my unsaved friends? Should I remain friends, but not hang out with them?

It depends on what you do when you hang out with them. :th_praying:

Let the LIGHT of Christ shine through you! It was Jesus who said:

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

How can others see your light if you hide it away from them?

very good point. we are all god's children.

Don't know if anyone said this yet but didn't have time to read the whole thread...that said:

Our main purpose here on this earth is to reconcile people to Christ...get as close as you can to them as freinds. Dont let them pull you into sin; YOU pull them out of it. That is our main motive with friendships. Living a godly lifestyle in and of itself is a huge witness for the Lord.

Walking in Victory,

J

Well, J Nissi, your siggy line speaks volumes,. but your statement needs a little fine tuning. We are not on this earth to reconcile people to Christ. We are here to give glory to God and that can only accomplished by someone being being convicted by the holy spirit, they are in need of salvation. The only one who can reconcile man back to God is Jesus by the work of the H/S.

There is nothing wrong with mixing with team mates or work mates if your motives lead to their conversion by being a witness, but at the same time your don't have to fraternise with them, simply because you like them. You still have to be a bit aloof and not lose your christian perspective. To be friend them so as to be able to witness to them is good. If they reject the gospel and continue in their siful pursuits, you should wipe their dust from your shoes. Jesus reclined with the sinners and dead beats to convince them that their life style will end in damnation. His very first instuction was.....seek ye first the kingdom of God....and that's what we have tell our unsaved school, team and work mates. if we don't we are not bearing fruit

Well thats the way I see it. I have lots of unsaved acqaintances, but I wouldn't exactly call them my friends.

Eric you are way out of Line. If you confess me before men ,I will confess you to the father. Confess what. That Jesus Christ IS GOD. We are to preach , teach, Evangelize. Yes it is The Holy Spirit That convicts...but who gives them the word so they may be convicted. We are here to help those who are bound, to bring the Gospel to a dying world.

You play with words and if you did not know what Nissi meant , simplicity eludes you.

Not emotional... that as well erroneous statement. If we did not have love, compassion, humbleness..hate sin, love the sinner. That was the basis for Jesus.. For God so loved.... Our Salvation is not based on emotion but I walks most certainly do, Having the heart and mind of Jesus... I pray I misunderstood you, but if God did not Love we wouldn't have Jesus, if Jesus did not care, we would hav no salvation.... I am sorry ..but I am at a 3 on the angry scale...( my own scale) patricia1

Well Patricia, get ready to change the number on the anger scale. God's love for mankind is Agape love, as in John.3:16, not a sentimental emotional fuzzy type of love. It is not God's desire that anyone perish, but for all to come to repentance.2Pet 3:9 We are not all missionaries, Patricia, called to go and search out sinners. We can't all be like brother Damo, who looks for the poor and homeless and unwanted lost souls and tells them about Jesus, and we don't have to hang out with the unsaved unless evangelising is our purpose.

Yes we do have to humble ourselves and show compassion and preach, but you can do that in the normal course of your daily life. You don't have to go out on a limb and become all buddy-buddy and hang out and socialise with them. Read all the posts properly and don't go getting in such a tizz. Some of the best witnesses I know have been sports celebrities who lead their team before and after a match in prayer, but that doesn't mean thay have to join in their carnal celebrations after the game.

If someone I know wants to listen to me talk about the bible and the Lord, that's fine, but I am not going to join in their worldly lifestyle and bible bash them to get the point home. The title of this thread is....should we have unsaved friends......and the bible says no. what fellowship has light with darkness. We are to preach the gospel to them, not scratch their backs. All this hate the sin, but love the sinner is a cliche coined by man.

So if you think I am making erroneous statements, I wont complain if you put me on your ignore list. Sorry I can't agree with everybody as I am not a yes man. I am God's man, bought and paid for by the precious blood of the Lamb.

Have a good day in the Lord sister Patricia.

How does one witness to un-believers if they have no emotional attachment?

Does this mean one must quit their job if they work with or for un-believers?

What of family members, do we cut ourselves off from them, too?

Faith without works...is ineffective.

Emotions have nothing to do with anything when witnessing.

No one is suggesting you leave your job because are working with un-believers.

nobody is saying you cut yourselff from unsaved family members.........Once again Jesus was not a friend of tax collectors and and sinners and the like. It was the people that hated Jesus, that accused Him of being friends withthem.

If you worked for a big firm that put on a big party at Christmas, as an end of the year fling, with all the booze and maybe a couple of strippers, would you mingle and mix in with their ungodly behavior, just because you were an employee? What sort of witnessing would that be........Bib, a person can not socialise with ungodly people as friends and be a christian at the same time.

Last question............Why would a christian want to be friends and hang out with pagans in the first place. 2nd Cor, chapter 6 says it all for us. Ya can't straddle the fence.

eric,

Jesus is my friend, isn't he yours? He loved me and died for me before I was even born, that makes him a friend of sinners. If he was accused of something and he was not, then he would have denied it.

No one said anything about engaging in sinful practices with un-believers. Going to a movie, depending on what it is, is not a sin. Going out to lunch with an unbeliever is not a sin. Going to their house and being there in their time of need is not a sin. Calling them just to talk is not a sin.

Emotions have everything to do with witnessing to the lost.

1 Corinthians 13:1 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn't love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

The first and best thing we need when witnessing to the lost is a deep love for them. That's why God sent Jesus, LOVE. That's why Jesus was willing to let himself be crucified, LOVE.

The main reason for our existance is to bring Glory to God. By doing that we evidence our love and trust for God and through that other's should see HIM and if it is His will, come to a knowledge of Christ.

We are commissioned to "go and tell" That was last thing Jesus told the disciples before he left. Not evidencing Christ to non-believers is going against Jesus commission.

I'm going to start a thread about witnessing. How do you witness and how were you witnessed to?

God's love for mankind is LOVE, in every sense of the word...
