It can be found at www.spurgeon.org. Just look under the S in the title index and go to the Sword of the Spirit. It was kind of long to post here, but O so good!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." It truly is amazing...especially since it was written in the 1800's and sounds like it could still be preached in todays pulpits! as do many of Spurgeon's sermons. The man could preach and had a great message. If you really want to be moved, read "Bride of Christ" http://www.biblebb.com/files/spurgeon/0282.htm what Spurgeon is saying in the excerpt you posted here has a very deep level of meaning that may or may not be lost on us. When we are told to STAND, it literally means to stand still in the face of possible fear against the enemy. Not that we are to take the heads of the enemies military but that we are NOT to run from him.

Ezra 4:22 Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of kings. Ps 8:5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and has crowned him with glory and honour. Pro 4:9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. Everlasting, Moon over Key Biscayne

That is the weapon of attack in the solders armour. It is mainly used in defence as Christians are meant to fight evil forced but love everyone including people that dont like us.
