He was a precious man..I always loved him and can still see him signing off his tv show with "good night and may God Bless"...

Agreed. Our family never missed his show. He moved from CBS to NBC the last year his show was on.

I wonder how many American schoolchildren who recite that pledge actually mean it? At the same time, I wonder if anything would be different here if British schoolchildren were taught a similar pledge?

thanks i needed to hear that. i also grew up watching Red Skelton, what a funny yet humble, Godly man. we have a lot of comics today, but not many comediennes. Red Skelton once said in an interview something to the effect of, if you have to be nasty to be funny, your not.

I absolutely adore Red Skelton...oh, how we so desperately need talent, wit, and entertainment like that again, especially now! One of the all time comic greats, and there's no mistake! :blink:

Yes, it was something to the effect that the then contemporary standard for humor was nothing better than very bawdy naughty bathroom wall humor, something nasty that you could read in most any restroom. He was of course right and the situation is even worse now. I think he was a very sweet, kind GENTLEMAN! Really miss him.
