I am not sure that I am posting them in the right spot or not but here is goes: What exactly are demons and where do they come from? Are demons different than fallen angels? What's the difference between a ghost and a spirit like those who came up out of the tombs when Jesus died?

I am sure that there are other threads in which this is addressed as well. 1. What exactly are demons and where do they come from? IMO: Demons are the spirits that remain from the offspring of the benei_ha-elohim and the daughters of men [cf Gen 6] 2. Are demons different than fallen angels? IMO: Yes. 3. What's the difference between a ghost and a spirit like those who came up out of the tombs when Jesus died? Can you please be more specific. A ghost/spirit, such as in 1 Samuel 28, is the unresurrected 'essence' of someone. Those spoken of in Matthew 27:52-53 were resurrected, they had a physical body and were not in the form of a spirit/ghost. I would recommend reading 1 Corinthians 15 for further insight. As for their origin it is quite difficult with any absolute certainty, to say where they come from. There are several theories that I'm aware of. As for a ghost this again is a spirit being. But there are many spirit beings. There is a man or woman's spirit, there our angels good and evil, there is God's Spirit, there is Jesus' Spirit and the Holy Spirit and finally there are demon spirits. All of the above are spirit beings or to use an old term ghosts. Blessings, MR T.

They just have different functions with the same vision ...to decieve mankind. We may name them differently, spirits, demons, fallen angels...to me they are all the same. and yes there are other threads on this subject. excellent answers.... Are demons different than fallen angels? Well, I grew up learning that demons were the angels who followed Satan in his rebellion against God. It wasn't until I interacted on the message board that I heard different beliefs about this. What's the difference between a ghost and a spirit like those who came up out of the tombs when Jesus died? As far as I know, they are two different terms for the same thing. But then again, a "spirit" can be an angel, a demon, or the Holy Spirit. But the Holy Spirit is also called the Holy Ghost. But ghosts are more likely than not demons maifesting themselves as dead people as a means of tormenting the living. Then, of course, you have a spirit (that is, you have a body, a soul and a spirit). But I've never heard anyone say you consist of a body, soul and ghost. But then again, the KJV says when Jesus died He gave up His "ghost." Confused enough now?

I get so lost in the debate and rabbit trails in them that I decided to start one that maybe I can grasp from the getgo. I have been looking into the various threads for the last several weeks and was just getting more confused and seriously needed a thread that I could interact with others in the hopes of understanding better. sorry if I am wrong to ask it again

What's the difference between a ghost and a spirit like those who came up out of the tombs when Jesus died? Demon and devil and fallen angel are all the same things. They are fallen angels who joined lucifer in his initial rebellion against God. I believe you have a good point here, demons, fallen angels and Satan are all the same class in the sense they are nothing more than unclean spirits. And Jesus has stripped them of their power over believers. Blessings, Mr T Edited March 4, 2008 by Mr T
