A part of me is saying don't post this

Recommended Posts

The fear I feel is a mute point because it is:

the fear of speaking in front of people

Which in turn is not a major fear to most and

makes me feel quite childish to be this afraid of something that

should not that big of a deal.

Louie Anderson has been doing standup comedy for 30 years and he says he always gets butterflies just before going out on stage. A large majority of people have a fear of speaking in front of people....I'm one of them. There's really no way to get over this fear except to just do it. Make sure you know what you're talking about....that's probably the most important thing.

Fear of the Lord.....for me....I guess is when I fully understood the consequences of my sins. God is real. His promises are real. So are His warnings. You have 2 choices on where you want to spend eternity. There is no in between. You can either spend it in paradise with God or you can have an eternity of unspeakable torment.

Fear of the Lord is obedience to the Word.

Peace.

Oh, is that it? Nearly everyone is afraid of public speaking until they do it a few times. I used to be until I took the trainer position at my former company. At that point, I had to do it or lose my job. My rule is to never practice what you're going to say but make sure you know your subject. Have an outline in front of you, open your mouth and just speak. Some say it helps if you speak to one person at a time; in other words, look at one person, speak to them, then move on to another. Never concern yourself with the size of the audience; you don't look at the whole audience at once. Oh, and pray for the Lord to guide you; He will hold your hand if you need Him to do so. Hope this helps. :whistling:

To all who have replied:

Thank You very much if you can think of any thing else that might would help I would greatly appreciate it. :whistling:

I am also arachniphobic you could put me in a room full of spiders and I would not be more terrified than I am now.

(I don't even have a date that I have to speak yet.) :b:

I have put together a list of His Words along with a few others to tote with me this week for extra something.

So, I thought I'd share what I'd found:

that's the # 1 fear in the world! it beats out fear of death.

I was just thinking this morning that I couldn't be more scared if I was in a line-up to be shot at.

My kids have tried to tell me the common antidotes like this one:

Picture everyone nude (my 10 year-old said he did this one once and almost busted out laughing in front of everyone.)

I have decided to speak to my womens class on wed night so they can help me.

How many boats does he expect us to jump off of?

Not more than we can handle.
