The word "God" is not the name of God. It defines who God is. Though God doesn't need to have a name, He told the Hebrews, namely Abraham, what to call Him. And since there is a very severe punishment for anyone who uses His name in an unworthy manner, very few use it even today. They will just write out G-d instead. What do you call God. I call him Father. Sometimes, Daddy. <smiling> Edited April 21, 2008 by Willow325

It helps me to remember just how awesome He is. He made a universe, I have trouble making an omelet. It is hard for me to not be respectful. Biblically, His Name is so holy that it's unutterable so they don't say it or even write it because doing either is a desecration of it.

It's just one of those hold-overs from my former faith that I can't shake.

My favorite is when He told Moses "I Am" kind of sums it all up. Personally he's my Daddy too.
