I wanna state that my question wasn't a slam against anyone in particular....it's just very confusing to me to see the name of God typed that way...

The word "God" is not the name of God. It defines who God is. Though God doesn't need to have a name, He told the Hebrews, namely Abraham, what to call Him. And since there is a very severe punishment for anyone who uses His name in an unworthy manner, very few use it even today. They will just write out G-d instead.

What do you call God. I call him Father. Sometimes, Daddy. <smiling>

I'm not jewish or messeanic and I do it out of respect for G-d and His Holy name.

It helps me to remember just how awesome He is.

He made a universe, I have trouble making an omelet. It is hard for me to not be respectful.

Just adding a little something...I don't think it's out of fear of punishment that Jews don't say "God". Biblically, His Name is so holy that it's unutterable so they don't say it or even write it because doing either is a desecration of it.

As a Jew, I do it out of habit, actually. It's just one of those hold-overs from my former faith that I can't shake.

The Bible gives us soooo many names that God goes by, it just shows He's our all and all. My favorite is when He told Moses "I Am" kind of sums it all up. Personally he's my Daddy too. :)
