are we raised a spiritual body?

1 Corinthians 15:44 indicates that "It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body."

- So, we are "sown" a natural body... but we are raised a spiritual body...

- How would this explain Luke 24:39?

Luke 24:39 - "Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have."

- Is this the resurrected body of the saints? How could Christ have flesh and bones ("...as ye see me have [flesh and bones]") ?

We have a earthly body that is made up of flesh and bones. It was God who made our fleshly bodies from the dust of the ground. Because man fell in the garden death was passed down to all of mankind from that time forward. Our earthly bodies will return to dust. Christ also had a fleshly body that was also subject to death and the grave. But Christ conquered death, hell and the grave. Christ was resurrected as the grave could not hold him. He was sown in a natural body but he was raised a spiritual body which is made up of flesh and bones as well. Our spiritual bodies will be the same just as Jesus was raised from the dead or the grave we also will have a spiritual body. Their is a difference between a earthly flesh and bone body and a spiritual flesh and bone body. That difference is that the spiritual body will never continually grow old like the earthly body. The spiritual body will never be subject to death, disease, sorrow, pain nor crying. Our spiritual flesh and bone bodies will live forever not subject to the woes of this life. The saints will have the same resurrected body as Jesus did. Our bodies will also be glorified with Christ.

***KEY......Jesus was "NOT" a "SPIRIT". Jesus was raised a Spiritual "Body" with "flesh" and "bones". A spirit "doesn't" have flesh and bones. However a body "does" have flesh and bones. I believe in the "bodily" resurrection of Christ. Jesus was raised with a "spiritual body" with "flesh and bones".

:)

______________________________________________________________________________

Another question...

The saints will have the same resurrected body as Jesus did.

But saints will be equal unto the angels... Luke 20:36

Luke 20:35-36

But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

- God makes his angels spirits...(Psalm 104:4) a spirit "hath not flesh and bones" (Luke 24:39) so if the resurrected saints are equal unto the angels...(angels being spirits) then wouldn't this make the resurrected saints unequal to the angels (in that: saints will have spiritual bodies... but angels are spirits and therefore "hath not flesh and bones")?

- Or do Angels have spiritual bodies? (Psalm 104:4 says that God makes his angels spirits...)

- 1 Corinthians 15:40 - "There are also celestial bodies" - Could this be referring to Angels? (Angels having celestial bodies) (or would 1 Corinthians 15:40 be talking about the resurrection "celestial body" of the saints)?

1 Corinthians 15

35But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?

36Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

37And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:

38But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

39All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.

40There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

41There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

42So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

(Hm, that "So also" could be significant...)

(To clarify the line of thought: If the "celestial bodies" in verse 40 ^ is referring to the saints' body and not the angels... then that would be a no to angels (whom God makes "spirits" - Psalm 104:4) having "flesh and bones" (as a spirit does not have "flesh and bones" (Luke 24:39)) )

(...I wonder if the following answers my question):

1 Corinthians 15 continued

43It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

44It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

45And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

46Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

47The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

48As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

49And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

- Or could it be that Jesus was saying that the Angels are the children of God... and in the same way, the resurrected saints will be equal to the angels in that regard...(and so, resurrected saints being equal unto the angels is not relating to the resurrected body, but to the "children of God" aspect)

are we raised a spiritual body?

Of what value is there in believing you have this figured out?

What is wrong with the question 'Ephesians_6_24' has asked?

It's not as much the question but where he is going with these questions - female angels and all that from the other thread.

Eph, are you gnostic?

To better clarify your question,

How would you define gnostic?

- what are you specifically asking me?

"Other [Gnostic sects] adamantly deny that the supreme being came in the flesh, claiming Jesus to be merely a human who attained divinity through gnosis and taught his disciples to do the same." - Wikipedia URL

- maybe this is why you ask me if I am gnostic...

- (to clear it up... God was manifest in the flesh: 1 Timothy 3:16 - so the supreme being did come in the flesh... it is also explained in 1 Timothy 3:16 that "...great is the mystery of godliness...")

(considering the post):

He

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 1 John 4:3

Every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the (resurrected) flesh?

- Is this passage (1 John 4:3) speaking about the resurrected flesh or the earthy flesh (1 Timothy 3:16, 1 Corinthians 15:44b)?

[In this post I am asking if 1 John 4:3 is talking about Jesus coming in the resurrected (spiritual body) flesh or in the (natural body) flesh... (as Jesus is God manifest "in the flesh", and 1 Corinthians 15:44 states that there is a natural and spiritual body, and Christ resurrected had "flesh and bones" Luke 24:39)]

- could 1 John 4:3 be speaking about both... (I always took 1 John 4:3 as speaking about the natural flesh... which is why I asked the question in this post:

Every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the (resurrected) flesh?

- Is this passage (1 John 4:3) speaking about the resurrected flesh or the earthy flesh (1 Timothy 3:16, 1 Corinthians 15:44b)?

To better clarify my question:

"every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the (my question: natural and spiritual ?) flesh is not of God"

Here is the answer to my questions:

Jesus had flesh and bones in his spiritual resurrected body... he was not a spirit... (Luke 24:39, 1 Corinthians 15:44b)

Jesus was manifest in flesh (earth) and had flesh and bones... (1 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 5:7, Hebrews 10:5, Galatians 4:4, Romans 5:14)

Every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the natural and spiritual flesh is not of God... because He did come in both.

Romans 8:23 (NASB95)

23 And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves,

waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.

Bearing in mind the languages through translation were all in a state of flux and terms like "spiritualized bodies" were not in existence then... "spiritual body" is still a body and not just a spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:45 (NASB95)

45 So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

Jesus is said to have been raised a life-giving Spirit after being put to death in the flesh.

1 Peter 3:18 (NASB95)

18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

But the evidence shows in his resurrection that he said handle me and see I have flesh and bone and am not a ghost / spirit (only).

Luke 24:39 (NASB95)

39 “See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”

So resurrection is not of spirit but of bodies that are spiritualized.

Talking Jesus All The Day Long

Talking Of The Resurrected Body Of Our LORD

Looking In The Word; Now Ain't That Just Jaw Dropping Astonishing

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:9-11

Finding The Son Of Man In Heaven

I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. Daniel 7:13-14

And The Son Of God In Zion

Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. Psalms 2:6-12

Bless His Holy Name

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalms 103:1

Amen

Every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the (resurrected) flesh?

- Is this passage (1 John 4:3) speaking about the resurrected flesh or the earthy flesh (1 Timothy 3:16, 1 Corinthians 15:44b)?

1 John 4:3 - And every spirit that "confesseth not" that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is "not" of God: and this is that spirit of anti-christ, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Romans 10:9-10 - That if thou shalt "confess" with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that "God hath raised him from the dead, " thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the "mouth confession is made unto salvation".

----The scripture in 1 John 4:3 is speaking of those who have "not" accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Those who "do not confess" with their mouth and believe in their heart the Lord Jesus and believe God raised him from the dead are those who deny Christ. This being the spirit of anti-christ working within the hearts of unbelievers as they refuse to make "confession" and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 1:12-14 - But as many as received him, to them "gave he power" to become the sons of God, even to them that "believe on his name": Which were born, "not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, But Of God". "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth".

-----Again the scripture in 1 John is not speaking of the bodily resurrection of Jesus. Instead it is speaking of God sending his Son into this world to pay the ransom price so man could be saved. Christ was not born into this world by blood nor of the flesh or the will of man. But Christ was born of a virgin called Mary by the will of the Father. Again the scripture has absolutely nothing to do with the resurrection.
