  2. A inscription on the James ossuary where it says he is the son of Joseph and brother of Jesus according to this article, has been verified as authentic. See for yourselves: http://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/dail ... c=E3249973
  3. Hey everyone, I just want to share with you all some links to some recent discoveries in archaeology that support the historicity of the Bible and Christianity. The first one is a extra biblical reference to Bethlehem found here: http://theosophical.... ... bethlehem/ The next on is about second century Pauline letters being discovered: http://anglicanink.c... ... discovered As always, thank you all for your time, God bless!
  4. Let's see some other things I was also going to mention. Through web surfing and more researching google earth I found some more interesting things. First, there are two stone pillars perhaps built by King Solomon to commemorate the red sea crossing. I think at least one of them are mentioned in scripture (the one on the Egyptian side) in Isaiah 19:19 "In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border." The Google Earth coordinates for these are as follows: Egypt side pillar: 28 58' 11.39 N 34 38' 32.83E ele 227ft. Saudi pillar site (pillar was removed by Saudi authorities after it's initial discovery) 29 01' 47.92N 34 51' 23.42 E ele 71ft. Another important site is the springs of Elim mentioned in Exodus 15.27 And it's location can be found at 28 34' 12.00 N 34 50 8.10 E ele 227 ft. Finally two other important finds at the Jabel Al Lawz site that I didn't mention in the original post was a ancient graveyard where possibly the Israelites who decided to disobey by continuing to worship the golden calf were killed and buried at. The coordinates for this area is 28 38' 32.30 N 35 22'02.60 E ele 4825ft. And Elijah's cave which is at 28 35' 16. 11 N 35 22' 25.59 E ele 6145 ft. So far as of now, I feel somewhat convinced that all this evidence seems to point in favor of these sties being authentic. I mean it appears to deny it would be like a guy who comes in on a dead man who is bleeding horrendously with about a dozen bullet holes throughout his body but the guy who views this is convinced rather that the man really died by a severe case of pneumonia instead! Unless this is some sort of a big joke or a big stunt that was put there by the Saudis or the Egyptians to me this almost has to be real solid evidence for the reality of the Exodus. And as always, thank you all for your time, God bless.
  5. Here is an even longer video that goes into greater detail on this exciting find!
  6. Archeological evidence for the exodus. Hey everyone, I've been studying about this very impressive evidence for the Jewish exodus. Particularly the locations of the Red Sea crossing, Mt. Sinai, the golden calf alter, Moses alter, and the split rock of Horeb. It has to do with the archeological research of Bob Cornuke and the unrelated research which was done much earlier by Jim and Penny Caldwell. Here is a link to a video about these discoveries. Something else that I have been doing recently is playing around with "Google Earth", it's a program you can download off of Google, just search for it and you will find it easy. With it you can almost locate any area on earth. I can locate my house and every major place that I have been to along with any other place I want to see. And because I want to see these places for myself, I've been on Google Earth searching the Jabel Al Lawz area for the very things that Cornuke, the Caldwells, and many others say that shows that the Bible exodus really did happen and it happened in Jabel Al Lawz. Now what I'm about to put up here are the coordinates from Google earth where these various landmarks of the Exodus are located. For those of you who have never used Google Earth yet, the coordinates on Google earth are at the bottom of the screen when you start the program. When you first start the program you have a search box on the upper right hand side. From there you type either the address or the location you want to view. For the exodus locations you type in "Jabel al Lawz, Saudi Arabia" and hit search and it will take you right into the area. Now to find the various locations, match the coordinates up and you should either see the very thing on the satellite image or there will be photographs of the monument (s) themselves in the specific area. Now then, here are the specific monuments and their coordinates. Red Sea (Reed Sea) crossing site (Shown on Google Earth as "Jewish progress") 29'02'37.66'N 34'46'31.39" E elevation 2518ft. Mt. Sinai: 28 ' 35' 04, 19 N 3521' 01.89 E elevation 7406ft. Moses Alter *animal shoot* (the place where Moses herded oxen in preparation to be sacrificed) 28'35'03.84 N 35'22'43.41 E elevation 5119ft. Possible Israeli campsite 28'34'59.82 N 35'23'22.78 E elevation 4978 ft. Golden Calf Alter 28'34'52.81 N 35'23'45.96 E elevation 5016ft. Fence and Guard house 28'35'09.37 N 39'23'09.40 E elevation 4961ft. Split Rock of Horeb 28'43'24.32 N 39'14'22.61 E elevation 3449ft. Anyways, I find this very very exciting, I look forward from hearing what Gman, Bippy and others here think. Anyway, thank you all for your time. God bless.
  7. Thank you all for your replies, but while searching around for a bit on the subject, I did come across this. http://timberlinebaptist.org/sermons/comfort.html And from what I gathered, this really help a ton. And I think it's very biblical as well. I doubt hardly anyone will find any major issues with it.
  8. I'm not sure God's comfort is something we seek. I suspect it is the product of loving intimacy with God based in study of his Word, prayer, obedience and loving service to others for his sake. Very good point. I think that's much closer to the truth. The reason why I was still wondering about God sending "supernatural love and comfort" to people is mostly due to the "experiences" of many chrismatic believers. To me it appears doubtful that this is how God really works but at the same time I don't know for sure but if somehow God is doing something for these people and they are thus much closer to Him than believers like me (I'm a southern baptist ) than I certainly want to tap into that. But regardless this has been a issue that I've had a lot of confusion over for obvious reasons.
  9. Hi everyone, I was curious if you all could help me out with this if you can. I've heard many pastors on television and elsewhere say that God can supernaturally comfort us in difficult times. And I've also am aware of the verses that specifically refer to the Holy Spirit as the "comforter". So if we as believers are facing a difficult situation or have fears and doubts about God's love for us, if we ask Him, does God normally send some sort of supernatural sensation of comfort and love to us? Now I know He certainly can if He wants to, but I'm mostly wondering if this is the norm for most believers and what He did in the lives of the apostles and early church followers immediately following the resurrection and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost? And if not, then can a believer easily get comfort, love, joy and so on from just meditating on the current and future promises that God gives through the gospel ie meditating on the promise of being forgiven or on the promise of heaven? Because I for one, have received such comfort from meditating on God's promises, but is there a way to receive it supernaturally in a uncontrolled sense? Because I imagine if God does such a thing, we wouldn't be able to control it since after all it's not being manufactured in our brains like simply meditating on God's promises would be, but it would be more raw, more real, and more fulfilling. If any of you all have ever felt a supernatural rush of love and comfort from God just how do you get Him to do it? I ask because I've tried on several occasions and haven't received anything. I just don't know if I'm asking for the right thing or if I'm not asking Him in the right manner or if I just don't have enough faith to get Him to work. But anyway if you all happen to know anything feel free to let me know. Thank you for your time. God bless.
  10. No, currently most of my friends are online, and thus I don't have that luxury. That's something else you see less and less now and that's friends who physically go somewhere and do things together. I guess it's a product of both the hard economic times, higher gas prices, and the rise of technology with the internet and social media, like twitter, facebook, and even message boards like this one
  11. Nor knowing you personally, it's hard to give any counsel without getting in the Lord's way. My advice is that it's OK to going crying to Abba, but when that's done, do whatever He tells you. I don't think people like being "T-Bowed" with slogans or being treated like a target. Things have changed, yes, they have. America no longer has respect for God in the public arena and most people know that, so instead of addressing you as a person, they attack the concept of God altogether. I don't think this is anything new, btw. John 15:18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. Believers in many societies of the world today are tortured and murdered for much less than what you are doing. It will come to America eventually, since we doing nothing to stop it yet. But I like to do things that make people ask.... Well as far as that goes, I specifically have not felt led by God to do any specific witnessing, I just feel pressured to go out and do it anyway because so many pastors and bible teachers I have heard in the past encourage it so much that it almost makes me assume that God demands us to do that whether we like it or not, want to do it or not, or have all the know how and ability to do it or not. Now if you ask me, I feel more led to do other behind the scenes kind of things like pray for the people who do all the front line kind of work, also I feel led to give whether it be money or food, or anything I know of to help groups such as missionaries. Or to even help out in church with things like chior singing or helping out with things like vacation Bible school. But when it comes to witnessing to strangers especially strangers whom you know will be hostile like atheists for example, I don't feel led to do such or at least not yet I don't. I guess it could also be due to the fact I'm not a good public speaker nor am I much of a social "people person". Well, I am in a online environment like I am here, but let's face it, people on the internet can't come through your computer screen and injure or perhaps kill you. But that and the fact that people in public even in America are becomming as mean, rude, evil and hostile as ever. If you all don't believe me, just read the articles or even view the videos of all the "mean wildness" that went on at all the mainline department stores last Friday. Because of that, I'm at the point to where I think it is so hard to reach people for Christ that the only way we can later reach such people is if God breaks their evil spirits and personality either through bad circumstances and tough times. Who knows, as bad as this economy and other things like the wild weather, wars in the middle east, and the corruption in our government is getting, who knows this could end up being a blessing in desguise for Christians because it may finally humble alot of people to the point that they would at least listen to the gospel and give it careful consideration. Anyway that's where I'm at currently. But anyway, what are some of the things that you do Yod, to make people want to ask?
  12. As a side note... I have found myself witnessing to / discovering closet Christians... as so many of us are intimidated by the environment of the last 10-15 years. Then I am encouraged to see football players in Dallas yesterday kneeling together (both teams) at the 50 yard line... the media covering the game quickly changed the shot... can't offend those two or three thousand unbelievers... never mind the millions of believers watching... Thank you all for your responses.
  13. Hey everyone, I want to briefly discuss witnessing to people, specifically to people here in America in this current age of increased skepticism and just general hatred of people who hold to different views than the other who is trying to persuade them. From what I've seen and have experienced myself (mostly on the internet) but I have also watched others out in public trying to witness to people and nine times out of ten the conversation ends up becoming a heated argument kind of like the ones you see on many of today's popular news channel political talk shows with the talking heads constantly acting rude to each other and interrupting the one talking whenever the other gets a chance to. To me it's becoming for fruitless to waste time witnessing to today's cynical, overly skeptical atheistic crowd. Or even if it's to people other false belief systems like Islam, Jehovah's witness, or mormons. The big factors remain the same. They quickly get rude and hateful, they interrupt you every chance they get, they don't listen or even care to listen and they try to pick apart every single detail of what you are trying to say. The things I'm asking myself now are, does God really command us to witness to and debate these types of people even if we don't get anywhere or can I just do something else for God that doesn't involve debating and being yelled at? Because for me, I'm more of the kind of guy who just wants to present the gospel and the reasons why I believe what I believe (like I did here ) and just say, "here, if you are interested in it, here are some more things you can do to help you look into the matter more. I just don't like being involved in hateful, shouting match type of debates with people, my life is stressful enough. I guess it has to do with some bad memories I have in my past where family members used to argue and yell at each other. But if it is something I have to do, how can I effectively witness to people either in person or on the internet without having to study psychology and debate tactics? Currently again, I feel more led to serve God in other (and hopefully more effective ways) but as of now, I just don't feel led to "street witness" to total strangers or people who are dedicated to their false religion or belief system. Let me know what you all think. Thank you all for your time.
  14. Hey everyone I've got some questions concerning mission work and reaching people around the world for Christ. The questions I have are what are some good quality missionary organizations that either you help contribute to or recommend? I know one that I have contributed to in the past is the Lottie Moon Missions. Is far as what you all know, are they are and still are a well respected missions organization? Also as a general cultural question, what cultures, people groups, or nations are the LEAST modernized, westernized or touched by technology or computers or the internet? The reason why I ask this is I feel like or at least currently feel like that the more non technologically advanced or even more tribal the nation, culture, or people group the more receptive they will be towards the gospel. Why am I saying this? Well from being in the US all my life especially now in the 21st. century with the internet there has been a big increase in atheism, secularism, and just general skepticism that almost borders on cynicism or is pure cynicism. And when you are dealing with a major increase of people especially young people who are so turned off by the gospel and won't even let you present your case or even bother to let you discuss your faith, without a major miracle or life event that shakes that person up enough to make them receptive to the gospel, they will never accept Christ. And even though the internet, computers and technology has done so much good for everyone over these last few decades it has also made people more hateful, rude, arrogant, as well as more skeptical and cynical. So because of these reasons I feel like people in westernized nations like the US, Europe, Canada, and any others who are tied to the internet and the like are becomming increasingly difficult to reach for the gospel even to the point that many are worth giving up on. But that doesn't mean we should stop trying of course. Through things like apologetics and the ministries that specialize in apologetics are a great last ditch effort to reach such people. But as I've said I've seen so many that are so far gone that even the best of apologetics can't help them. But regardless people of lesser developed nations I feel like, may still be rather easy or easier to reach for the gospel. And so for that reason I was wondering which nations or people groups that are still around today that you think would be very receptive to the gospel and if so, what kind of missions groups are reaching them and how can we help contribute to them? To put things in parable terms, you want to look around and try to find the best ground that is still around to sow your seed in. And try to focus less on wasting all your seed on poor ground. It's sort of like casting your pearls before swine. But anyway, I look forward to reading what kind of suggestions you all may have. Thank you for your time. God bless. Plus, what cultures, people groups, or nations, that have either haven't been visited by Christian missionaries yet?
  15. You know I hate being a stickler for Beck, but you do have the lyrics slightly wrong. It's "we'll be the KEY". But I will admit before I looked it up and I'm just listening to it I thought just like you, it was "we'll be the king". But I have noticed that Glenn names alot of the things he owns (like his radio station name and some of his projects) he names them after planets! Such as his radio station or radio company is called Mercury radio. Plus he's done a project in the past called Mercury one or something like that. You can easily see right there, his mormon belief of being a god of his own planet one day. By the way guys I've got a question for everyone here, do you all think we are currently experiencing a mormon invasion with popular people such as Glenn Beck, Mitt Romney, and even Youtube's Shay Carl and the "Shaytards"? And I say thiese are not the only ones. It seems to me that mormons are not satisified with going door to door anymore.
