Everytime I drive by a huge Mosque loomong over our nations key cities it stirs me to wonder when the day will come that they become a homeland threat. Blessings Axxman: You are correct in that early editions of the KJV (and other reformation Bibles) included the apocryphal books, but for historical references only and was not to be used as additions to the cannon of Scripture, according to Alexander McClure, a biographer of the KJV translators. He even listed the reasons, seven in all, assigned by the KJV translators for rejecting the apocryphal as inspired. The Articles of the Church of England even reject the apocraphal as inspired, and have no scriptural authority. Moreover, the apocraphyl books were placed between the Old and New Testament and not intermingled within the Old Testament itself as is done in the catholic Bible. Please read what I wrote Axxman. The Holy Scriptures has and always will be a Book written by God through His Hebrew prophets and Hebrew writers and the Scriptures to be specifically cannonized as inspired Scripture of the Bible was done by the Jews, and not the Roman Catholic Church. As far as the Council of Trent, it was an attempt by the Catholic Church to counteract the protestant reformation. Nikki, have a look at my post #6 on this thread, and then have a look at the link. This bible has been studied for decades, by people all over the world. It has taken years to transcribe and translate. The originals that have been found are on display in a few museums. The text is very similar to the bible scriptures we read today, taking into context the age of the writing, and the translation dificulties. This is an original and accurate document, and is a tremedous find that only go's to reinforce that the Lord's word is true, pure and timeless. Take a few minutes to go to the link. The catholic church simply picked out some writings and decided that they wanted them put into the Bible, but were never recognized by the Jews in Old Testament times as part of the Word of God. I briefly checked out the Codex Sinaiticus that you posted, and I have a major problem with it; that being it includes the apocryphal, the additional books of the Bible that the catholic church has incorporated into the catholic Bible, whose authorship is considered questionable for authenticity, and erroneous. And this is no surprise. Germany, France, Switzerland, the UK and Switzerland have all invested billions of dollars worth of trade with Iran. It's all about money to them. Blessings, Sometimes I am a skeptic, and this is one of those times. The story portrays this to be "the world's oldest Bible." What about the Dead Sea Scrolls? The picture shows what I assume to be written "scripture", but the article, as far as I could tell, does not mention or translate what the scripture says except for admonishing Israel. Sounds like today's headlines and I see a political agenda and timing behind this story. Not saying this is not an authentic find, but I question it being what the writer's describe as the world's oldest Bible, not knowing who authored it and what is written in it and of course, its resting place. From reading in between the lines, it kinda looks like to me the catholic church with the help of the British are again trying to sabotage biblical Christianity. Nothing can stop these Chinese Christians even unto death itself. What a glorious testimony to our risen Lord. When the communist regime ordered all western missionaries out of China and kicked Christianity out 50 years ago, the church of Christ in 50 years has grown to`110,000,000 Christians in China, an increase of 100 fold. And it just keeps growing. We can learn alot from these Chinese Christians. May God continue to bless them abundantly 100 fold. Persecution is coming to the church of Christ in America. Like in China, the door to our freedoms that we once enjoyed, is being closed as Americans have depended upon the American Constitution to save them. But with each passing day, we lose more and more of those cherished freedoms, and we now have a president and a congress that serves only themselves, like in China. Is this what it is going to take to wake up the sleeping church in America? I believe God will allow whatever it takes to bring those He loves to their knees, and He is gathering a people all to his own. The early New Testament Church was persecuted for their faith, and as the OP stated, Christians are now being persecuted around the world for their faith in Christ. To think the western and American church will not suffer the same fate is an arrogant, self righteous attitude to have because if you and me are doing the work of the Lord publically, we will suffer persecution right here in America. People in America have already been arrested for preaching the Gospel on the street. If America didn't have a freedom of speech law written in its Constitution, and lawyers to fight for us, we would be in the same boat as communist countries. We would go to jail, be beaten, refused medical care, starved and forgotten about. But that day is soon coming. As it is now, you can't even speak to a co-worker about Christ on the job without being reprimanded. Are you willing to lose your job for Christ? And trust Him to help you and take care of you until you have another job? These are things I think we all need to examine ourselves on.
