Israel wanting to set a final border is admitting that peace efforts and diplomacy have failed. Hamas knows this too and is, in essence, whining that there will be no further negotiating even though they insist they will not recognise nor negotiate with Israel. Israel needs to firm up a border and cut the West Bank and Gaza off all together. The world wants them to withdraw back to the 1967 borders and perhaps they should. At least then they can finish the wall. No doubt the Palestinians will cry about the West Bank and Gaza being cut off from one another but thats the cost of putting terrorists in charge. Let all those countries that support violence against Israel support and feed them.

Worthy News: Iran builds a secret underground complex as nuclear tensi
O'Dannyboy replied to George's topic in World News
No doubt they are building facilities that are conceivably out of reach of the current bunker busters. Little do they know. Remeber how we found out about the stealth fighter? it wasn't untill one was shot down and shown on foreign new stations that the U.S. government finally confessed. Secret technology enevitably will remain so untill it is finally put to use or becomes obsolete. -

I don't see where research is a violation of a "proliferation" treaty. Its understandable that under the current circumstances many if not all of the nuclear powers will be covertly upgrading their delivery systems. -
US not doing enough to stop Iran
O'Dannyboy replied to Marnie's topic in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
The U.S. is doing all it can do at the moment. Our government cannot afford to go it alone this time. Considering how stretched our army is we must have the help of other nations to bring Iran to its knees. But more than that we cannot afford to go against the decissions of our allies which we are running out of it seems. After hearing how easy it would be to bring Iran to its knees simpy by cutting off its supply of refined fuel, it has become glaringly obvious that they have their priorities mixed up. The Iranian leaders claim to want nuclear technology for energy but have completely ignored their dependance on other nations to refine their oil. This line of thinking only reinforces suspicions of their nuclear intentions. Rest assured, once they are brazen enough to brag about their nuclear achievement they will find the rest of the world ready to fall on them. -
They speak of 225,000 jobs as growth? I guess they can do the same thing every year around this time. Surely they are counting the seasonal jobs such as lawn care and summer internships. Perhaps they are even counting the jobs that, even though they are in other countries, are for American owned companies. Its hard to immagine where they are getting these figures from. It could all very well simply be propaganda. Give the employment sector a pat on the back and perhaps the economy will get a jolt. I know this is pretty nagative speech, but neither the media or our government have given me any reason to trust them lately.

Worthy News: Negative perceptions of Islam increasing - MSNBC
O'Dannyboy replied to George's topic in World News
One thing that is getting out of hand is the medias mislabeling of our concerns. Much of what I heard on the news this morning is how the Dubai "debocle" could effect our standing with Arab nations. If it weren't for the poor reporting of our own news agencies they would not even think it was a race issue to begin with. It was the Dubai deal that brought it to our attention, but we don't want ANY other country in control of our ports. Thats it, end of story. We are particularly concerned and cautious of selling major American "strategic" assets to other countries, especially to countries influenced by Islam. It has nothing to do with what race, gender or even the type of government the parent company resides in. It was in the news yesterday that a large number of middle eastern countries were re-evaluating their investments in the U.S.. Now, it seems, they are now of the opinion, thanks to OUR media, that we no longer wish to do business with Arab owned companies. This just continues to get twisted out of context. So, now, our caution and reluctance to sell strategic assets to a government owned, middle eastern, Muslim influenced company has been twisted into simply a matter of race. Sometimes the narrow and shallow views of some people can really be mind boggling. -
Cheney: US won't be party to terror state
O'Dannyboy replied to Christ's Free Servant's topic in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
There is a reason for it working out this way. Perhaps The U.S. dealings with Yassar Arafat slowed down the tempo of his movement, long enough for him to die before seeing any fruit short of successful terrorist attacks. -
If we look under the surface, the U.S. is risking alot to keep Israel from giving the islamic nations a reason to unite against it. I now see that the United States, through all of its meddling in the Middle east (aka Foreign policy) is deflecting a large amount of agression away from Israel. Without any knowlege, former presidents have been playing the nations of the middle east against one another, fostering distrust, thusly protecting Israel. You can see God working when you look at it this way. You can see the beast being held at bay. Its when the United States relinquishes its role as protector of Israel that you can see the end comming. I ,now, am not so eager to see our troops abandon Iraq so quickly. Now we have to consider, that when Bush threatened to veto any deal with Dubai for our ports, he was not acting of his own volition. I am very thankful that the UAE values our relationship as much as our government values theirs. Whether or not we like it, we need to be able to maintain a large presense in the middle east so that our response time offers a deterent to any actions against Israel. So basically, I do not think Israel should be volunteering its assistance to any attacks on Iran and by no means should they be encourage to particpate lest they give the entire middle east reason to unite under one banner.

I for one agree with Olmerts stance. Firm up permanent borders and build/finish the security fence allowing for plenty distance between settlements and potential attacks. I also support the E.U.s stance on dealing with the new Hamas government which is saying unless you are talking about peace through peaceful means then we will not financially support/aid you. Those entities that are giving financial aid to the Palestinians should become stricter and enforce peacefull CONDUCT not just lipservice that constitues dreams of peace only as a result of destruction of Israel. I also support any plans that "sure up" the Israeli hold on Jerusalem.

Worthy News: Negative perceptions of Islam increasing - MSNBC
O'Dannyboy replied to George's topic in World News
It's become increasingly apparent that there are those that wish to turn our unfavorable impressions of Islam into racism against Arabs. This is a vary narrow sighted perception. I agree that racial profiling would only make sense, even at the risk of offending. Ultimately, Muslims come in all shape sizes and colors and must be screened accordingly. -

If they are this close, then it's too late. We can prevent them from creating them in large numbers, but once they have a functional missile, there will be no way to destroy it. They will move it where it cannot be found (Syria perhaps). No doubt, if they have one to "demonstrate" with, they will have others to bully their neighbors with. -

I am so glad they caught the persons doing this. I don't think the "joke" defense is going to help them much. Its a shame, with the IRA breathing down the necks of churches across the nation, that this many churches should have to rebuild. I hope these young men learn something from this. Perhaps they will spend some time in prison for it and then they will see how funny society thought it was. -

I tend to gravitate toward movies that excite my imagination and electrify my senses. I look at movies as entertainment, or a source of, but they do have a large influence on us, especially the young. The movies that won so many awards this year are based on ideologies that I am trying to escape from. I saw this comming when shows like Jerry Springer became so popular. I see no use for reality shows, unless somehow the large majority of these people are oblivious to the world around them. It's as though television has become more meaningful than real life. We've seen the effects of this culture in high school shootings around the country where they treat life like the video games they play. It used to be childeren jumping of the monkey bars, not the effects are far more dire. Next I suppose they will have a movie about Muhammed making him look like some demigod.
