  1. To me the cross represents sacrifice, love and new beginning. Symbols are all known to hold multiple meanings. And this is the answer you are asking for. It is a symbol that means different things to different people. For many it is a sign of persecution, believe it or not. Though every disciple should embrace the Cross, the symbolism of a cross is a bit too vague nowadays, imo. Don't all the rap stars also wear a cross? So I prefer more generic symbols of faith or light; like a menorah or a small prayer box. I hope to start conversations, instead of being classified by a symbol that has so many meanings. Well said. Point taken.
  2. Fez, if I was there and saw that, I'd have to assume you were a zombie and set you on fire. Since when does fire kill a zombie? I thought you had to decapitate them? Setting him on fire would only ruin the coffin and his outfit.
  3. Yes, it's now used by Neo Nazi skinheads and erstwhile Bike Mechanics/Celebrities. Are you referring to the maltese cross? Nope, they use them both. That I did not know.
  4. If it means nothing then it shouldn't bother them if I do it right? Do it all you want....as you have already been told on this thread. You asked questions, we answered. No one has told you to do or not do anything. That's fine. I was just looking to see if there was in fact anything scripture based on this being a bad thing. As it turns out, it simply seems to be something of personal preference. Thank you all for your input.

  7. Symbolic meanings can change over time depending on who uses them. Look at the swastika for example. That symbol was commonly used all around the world until the Nazi's adapted it. Now it's frowned upon.

  9. What's wrong with showing my respects in more than one way?
  10. Why should we? Seriously. I'm not saying everyone HAS to do it, but why is it so looked down upon? I simply do it as a sign of respect to Him for what He did for us. Is that so wrong?
  11. I'm going to be completely honest here. I grew up seeing people doing that in real life and on television, so I started doing it as well. It wasn't until recently when I started to wonder why everyone under a Christian faith doesn't do it. After doing some research, the only answer I could come up with is "because Catholics do it". I also read that not ALL Protestants fall under this category, but it did seem like a majority of them do. Is this truly the only reason why? Now, I don't want people thinking I do this as a way of showing everyone around me that "he's religious" or "look at that guy praying". I do this under my own roof and inside the church along with 3-4 hundred other people also praying. Excuse me for my ignorance, but that is why I come here. To ask questions and to learn.
  12. Like I said - so why not talk to the Holy Spirit? I think you're missing the point he's trying to make. We all know that when you pray to one, you pray to all. Why is it though that when people pray, they always direct their prayers towards the Father or the Son. Why not the Holy Spirit?
  13. Read what Jesus said about the Holy Spirit in John 12-15, I think it is. Does it not sound like there is a distinction between Him and the Spirit? There is a distinction between all Three, but how can you know one better than the other? How can you have a closer relationship with one and not the other? Repeat: It doesn't work like that. Look at it like a person with multiple personalities? You may know Bob, but Bob is also Bill at times. You've never met Bill nor do you know anything about him, yet you can claim that your relationship with him is as strong as it is with Bob?
