I have come to the conclusion not to rely anything on the flesh as it is not convertible Gal 5... Romans 7:25 (KJV) [25] I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Romans 8:1 (KJV) [8:1] There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 10:12 (KJV) [12] Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. It cannot be made perfect but it can be denied if one remains in The s/Spirit... 1 John 2:16 (KJV) [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. One remains in the s/Spirit when keeping one's mind stayed on the Scripture and desiring in love produced by knowing and desiring to please God...

I'm sorry bringing one's body under obedience unto Scripture is not metaphor... it is plain English grammatical fact... it is a practical way God has given us to return love back to Him by denying our flesh and living to Scripture...
-
Absolutely! The finishing rule of hermeneutics- taking any verse in immediate context, chapter context, book context, testament context, the whole of God's Word context.... no wonder God calls this work! The work seems inexhaustive indeed...

Looking over the whole of the verse and word studies -none go with the word which indeed is what derived from the eye concept... However, the majority of NT translations do not follow that derivative trail perhaps because of which directs from the derivative eye to that of body... Undoubtedly the easiest part of the body to sin with is the eye... and when Jesus disclosed this Matthew 5:27 (KJV) [27] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: [28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. [29] And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. [30] And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. which conjoins the concepts being spoken of here in this thread... The Catholics certainly practiced the beating of oneself to become obedient to what they thought the verse means BUT the error was flesh correcting flesh... The s/Spiritual battle is of course dying to the use of flesh and living within the confines of s/Spirit which reckons all flesh and this world as dead and not to attach ourselves any longer to either... a very difficult road indeed!

seeing how John is part of the church and Elders are present your argument is moot as far as I am concerned... the real seal on the whole is God's own promises 2 Corinthians 5:6 (KJV) [6] Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: [7] (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) [8] We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. John 14:2 (KJV) [2] In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. As the Father is never stated as dwelling on the earth this can only be referring to heaven...

Revelation 4:1-5 (KJV) [1] After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. [2] And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. [3] And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. [4] And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

may I ask how long have you known The Lord and studied His Word to us?

no wonder people try to make this a parable... the truths are eye opening!

Your errors are abundant in not rightly dividing the Word 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) [15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. What is the major division from Genesis 1 to Genesis 7?

knowledge for one 1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV) [9] But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 8:2 (KJV) [2] And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. Righteousness another Romans 3:10 (KJV) [10] As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 1 John 1:8 (KJV) [8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

The ignoring part is not true since the site does allow people to be placed on ignore by the individual... I usually ignore when both points have been given and then only repeated rhetoric... what benefit is that... I am here to discuss Scriptural truth that is all I am concerned with in this life... I choose to glean what the Word, Itself, is saying... for that is God speaking to us all! I have already quoted the Scripture that states it is incomplete and you quoted what will be done with that 1 Corinthians 13:10 (KJV) [10] But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. It is stated by Scripture... and that always settles the questions I have on anything... When Scripture clearly and pin pointedly speak to a subject that becomes my thinking always...
-
Interesting how Scripture says otherwise as has been quoted plainly... and you ignore it... even when God instructs us we can't Isaiah 28:9 (KJV) [9] Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. [10] For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
-
Peter asked pin pointedly this 2 Peter 3:11 (KJV) [11] Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, [12] Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? [13] Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. God is about completeness >yet< here and now is slated as incomplete and laid out for total and complete destruction The incompleteness of the now: 1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV) [9] But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 8:2 (KJV) [2] And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. So, one must ask if nothing is known as it should be how can this be the perfect? I am concerned with the spirit that indicates the perfection of here and now because it is simply not supported by Biblical text!

most certainly God has said and very clearly and distinctly.... Isaiah 65:17 (KJV) [17] For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. 1 Corinthians 13:8 (KJV) [8] Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. Revelation 21:4 (KJV) [4] And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. [5] And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. *As God has said so shall it be!* Ezekiel 12:25a (KJV) [25] For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass;

To build a foundation on experience is the same as sand... Isaiah 65:17 (KJV) [17] For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. As God has said all experience shall be rendered moot to the eternal keeping! The proper foundation is God's Word because Ezekiel 12:25 (KJV) [25] For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD. Matthew 24:35 (KJV) [35] Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. A wise man will build his house upon the rock of eternal keeping and not on that which passes away and will be no more....

What is the most important & main message in the Bible?

When you examine the explanation of God's Love 1Cor 13 you come away with an infinite reality of no lack, no need, no effort just the pleasure of dispersing of The inexhaustible resource of God's Self... I believe why the only response to God for the wonderful gift of Himself is thanksgiving for there is no debt for the giving just response to the reality... so to answer the question it was never given to get but given because of essence of The Unselfed reality of completeness without end... The giving I believe radiates pleasure in God Isaiah 46:10 (KJV) [10] Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: I believe this reality may be thought to an incomplete end for it is written 1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV) [9] But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. here it is spelled out specific 1 Corinthians 13:9 (KJV) [9] For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. [10] But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. [11] When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. [12] For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. [13] And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. We can only relate to begin and end ...thus we must emptied of this self to be able to even start with the things of God... God is in complete control of ending of that which cannot continue to illumine that which can never end... the key is the removal of lie so as it never was nor ever will be... -
Clearly it is Scripture alone that speaks to us in the guidance of God Himself John 8:32 (KJV) [32] And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 17:17 (KJV) [17] Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 2 Timothy 3:15 (KJV) [15] And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. [16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The Christian Life is not Hard - it is Impossible!

For the family to ponder: We know that 'ALL' things here are slated for destruction by fire 2 Peter 3:11 (KJV) [11] Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, [12] Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? [13] Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. So that the things that are used in works shall be no more... AND All knowledge of such things to even the thing itself and what was done with it shall cease Isaiah 65:17 (KJV) [17] For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. 1 Corinthians 13:8 (KJV) [8] Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. John actually was shown this time Revelation 21:4 (KJV) [4] And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. [5] And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. As we have been given the s/Spiritual essence of new birth and God, Himself, in the person of the Holy Spirit within we are able to know that what is true above and applied to the here and now is: The things themselves and the processes by which they are used is not up for eternal keeping BUT the essence of the heart that is made s/Spiritually alive is made able to fix upon what is done to the promise of what will be-which is that which has never been next to sin but is the newness where sin never has been nor even considered... Jude 23 (KJV) [23] And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. Here is the impossible- nothing of here or the use of it will be kept... one might say what of the judgment seat of Christ and the talents? This is before the removal of all things present and newness of all things promised... but the judgment, at the bema, is where the value of the heart actually lies: to the things present, 1stcreation, or the things promised, (eternal state), which is not yet come into being even at the judgment seat itself! Our God is able to take us into this place of righteousness where sin never has been nor ever will be for sin had no place with God in all eternity... The narrow path and few that find... -
We have no way of telling what you are claiming as the Psalms were assembled, and the writer may have been referring to that assembled order ...

pertaining to this topic is God's approach to this topic Biblically Matthew 6:23 (KJV) [23] But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! [24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
