@Vine Abider There are cores that one can be 100% on because the Bible states it specific to the tee... the rest I only go to as much as can be known and wait there ... it really helps me to have a professional Bible Software system as I don't have the horsepower myself... I thank God all the time for letting me live here and now so that I have such excellent tools to use in getting to know Him through His excellent Word...

Yes, hence the tension that lies there... I don't mind God has so written things as it causes me to have to search, study and wait upon Him!

How do we define Idolatry? According to Scripture.
enoob57 replied to Jesse_Loves_God's topic in General Discussion
Just a resounding NO... but just like the first conversation recorded: Genesis 1:26 (KJV) [26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. They, who honors His Word, receives the honor of knowing His Persons by the way, truth and life in the eternal future with Him and those who do not Matthew 7:21 (KJV) [21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. [22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? [23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. -

This is Jesus The Messiah in His earthly body praying to God The Father in heaven: John 17:5 (KJV) [5] And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. As the only Scripture speaking of this 'before the world was' is here this is Strong's number Note this is speaking of God in plural form and backing up what Jesus claimed in His prayer to God - to return to this before They= (the plurality) as 'God the Father/God the Son/God the Holy Spirit' created anything! This is foundational to Scriptures teaching of God as one yet three distinct Person called the Trinity of the One true God... The baptism of Jesus confirms the Persons and positions of God instances of Father from heaven speaking from heaven His approval of The Son; The Holy Spirit coming down from heaven to remain upon The Son during His ministry on earth as a Man fulfilling God's righteous demands of the Law; The Son as 100% God and 100% man doing only the will of the Father... To deny the Trinity of Persons of our One God is basically denying the grammar, the portrayal God sets forth, and the witnessed account of the Jesus Himself... -
Whenever and wherever you have God being made common, 'just another part of the group', we certainly know the influencing spirit in this...

There exist lots of tension here in reasoning of Scripture... 1 John 2:19 (KJV) [19] They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. This indicates those of a body of believers there exist those that are not of us... in fact this is where satan does a lot of his work 2 Corinthians 11:13 (KJV) [13] For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. [14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. [15] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. Paul specifically called our attention to this reality Acts 20:28 (KJV) [28] Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. [29] For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. [30] Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Based on this Scripture the hermeneutic you are proposing may be incorrect

We become numb to the price God paid for us in the day-to-day grunge of this world... it's not like our Lord hasn't warned us Matthew 24:12 (KJV) [12] And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. We literally have to fight to keep our heart hot to God and His things!

we have to be careful on how far to push this "Christianity is not a religion" James 1:27 (KJV) [27] Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. That is why I qualified religion with 'false'

false religion verses reality Luke 6:44 (KJV) [44] For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. [45] A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. [46] And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? I have always found wonder in this: none of this we can keep... duh, right? YET we devote most of our time to the obtaining of it and motive is for fleshly needs that we can't keep as well... wisdom states- Ecclesiastes 1:14 (KJV) [14] I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Job 15:31 (KJV) [31] Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence. Hosea 10:12 (KJV) [12] Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

The farthest that we can go with the this: Sparks quoted above John 1:14... 100% God and this Hebrews 4:15 (KJV) 100% man [15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Luke 13:2 (KJV) [2] And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? [3] I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Acts 3:19 (KJV) [19] Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; -

Romans 1:18 (KJV) [18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; [19] Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. [20] For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: [21] Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. [22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,- 1 reply

How do we define Idolatry? According to Scripture.

By the claims of Scripture of course: John 14:9 (KJV) [9] Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? [10] Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. John 8:56 (KJV) [56] Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. [57] Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? [58] Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. -

placing a created thing more important than the Creator of all things... -
Part of the sanctification process is growing in the understanding of God's Word... The begin: Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) [6] But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Knowing what faith is: Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) [11:1] Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faiths total substance is born out from Scripture/God's Word: Romans 10:17 (KJV) [17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The whole of God's purpose is to restore to us the absoluteness of His Word given to us... it was lost when we listened to satan in the garden: Genesis 3:4 (KJV) [4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: Whenever we try to generate faith it is always in something other than His Word like: works, values, goodness, strength, world, body etc... God says a thing it cannot be anything other that what He has said: Hebrews 6:18 (KJV) [18] That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Do you believe this? John 1:12 (KJV) [12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. [14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Son says this about The Father Mark 10:27 (KJV) [27] And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. I believe God above all else!

How God Is Bringing The Good Work In Us To Completion
enoob57 replied to Michael37's topic in General Discussion
We hold the responsibility of the quality of belief: Ephesians 6:5 (KJV) watch them when no one is looking-> their work... [5] Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; [6] Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; [7] With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Philippians 2:12 (KJV) Do they complain about others stir up strife... [12] Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. [13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. [14] Do all things without murmurings and disputings: Matthew 6:20 (KJV) where does their devotion lie-> things of God or world... [20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: [21] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. [22] The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. [23] But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! [24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 1 John 2:19 (KJV) God cannot / will not separate Himself from Himself... [19] They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. A belief that saves is found true when having The Holy Spirit present within you... it can be faked 2 Corinthians 11:14 (KJV) [14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. [15] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. This is why God is the final Judge... He alone knows the bottom line belief within the heart... this a good treatise on the subject What does it mean that God knows your heart (Luke 16:15)? | GotQuestions.org -

I am sure the Bible states life is not found here in this death! Colossians 3:1-5 (KJV) [1] If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. [2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. [3] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. [4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. [5] Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: And yet the instruction set is pretty clear on this Mark 8:35 (KJV) [35] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. [36] For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? [37] Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? [38] Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. Walking with God in s/Spirit is the life we are to lead here and that is the reason it is difficult to live in this place of darkness and death... Here, this present world, is the reverse of how we are to live Matthew 6:24 (KJV) [24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. [25] Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? [26] Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? [27] Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? [28] And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: [29] And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. [30] Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Do you understand we are purchased by Christ? The problem with religion is it is trying to help us fit in here... which according to God we will not fit! If people look to the death for life shall they find it? 1 John 2:15 (KJV) [15] Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Luke 16:13 (KJV) [13] No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Most strive to live a good life here for the benefit of flesh well being.... Jesus asked what profit is that to us who are born from above? -

I believe the proof of this is found at the judgment seat of Christ 1 Corinthians 3:15 (KJV) [15] If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. It certainly divides out works and salvation... one can be without the other... It is interesting how God tries that which is being kept by fire.... all first creation will be removed by fire so only that which will remain is that which the fire will not remove ... so reliance on anything of now will be lost in the fire but that which is relying upon that which will be but is not as yet will not burn up... Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) [11:1] Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) [6] But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. How perfect God has divided out body reliance from Spiritual reliance... -

It is specifically focused on what we rely upon to be saved- ourselves or Christ... as it cannot be both! This is what James is saying 'proof is in the reality of Christ in us' or John in this way 1 John 1:6 (KJV) [6] If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: [7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. [8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
