  1. Ok... I don't know. Given Peter's direct comment, and sequential quote of the passage=prophecy fulfilled. I go with the simplest answer, Peter said it was what Joel was speaking of, and I'll go with that. Given that, I would say the afterward spoken of; was after they were empowered by the Holy Spirit.
  2. I tend to disagree, [i think] this prophecy is past. For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
  3. Oh I've been called heretic for saying that "yom" doesn't always mean a 24-hour day from people who think the world is about 7 thousands years old If God is "without age", it only stands to reason that some of his creations could be very old.
  4. In studying this passage I have found this quote concerning this part of the story: Some have said that, in providing the ram as a substitute for Isaac,
  5. Only adding to the above sentiment... AMEN!
  6. I am convinced, as others here are, that the "rock" upon which Christ would build His church; was the revelation given to Peter: "that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God." We need look no further than the day of pentecost as Peter (the rock) stood upon The Rock of that very same revelation:
  7. Couldn't agree more on that. Count me in for a thumbs up on that one also!
  8. When Yeshua fulfilled the law He rightly interpreted it, this is how it was explained to me by a few Jewish brethern and when it says abolish means the law or scriptures they are not being correctly interpreted. Even if our Jewish brethern do not believe in the Messiah I have known more that properly interpret the scriptures than many christians, I have learned more about scriptures and such by some Jewish folks than I have from some christian teachers. And of course the Messianic Jew has a whole lot to bring to the understanding of scriptures. As long as one goes into a study with open eyes and ears theres no reason not to look into rabbinical commentaries and or Targums I have found clarity in some of those teachings.
  9. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, This was He of whom I said, He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me. And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. John 1:1-4 & 14-18 NKJV Since this topic may have turned to the "oneness" of God. And I will admit the plurality of the Godhead is often difficult to understand, and near impossible to explain. I will ONLY attempt to make a person think. Given the above verses, "how can ONE be both with God and God? The WORD [Jesus Christ] was both with God, and God, and not simply in title but also in action, as we find their places in the act of creation. God spoke (the Genesis account), and the WORD [Jesus Christ] acted (John's account). Many say that Jesus never claimed to be God, but that is not so: My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Fathers hand. I and My Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. John 10:29-31 NKJV Jesus' claim that He and the Father are one? How can this be? We know of his claim to be the Son of God, but now he claims equality with God. The Son and the Father are one. The Jews understood this claim and would have killed Him right there for it. Also, in Isaiah 7:14 we are told that a virgin shall bear a son and his name shall be Immanuel, which is literally God-with-us. And yes, I know this post does not even touch on the Holy Spirit, but I do not attempt to explain, only to make a person think. I would encourage all to (and I know you do) to study and think, and convince yourselves, then your faith will be stronger.
  10. Good point. Sometimes this is hard to understand (it requires great faith, and greater understanding). Or at least for me!
  11. Wouldn't the latter part of verse 30 be considered prophecy? Isn't glorification a coming process? Yes glorification could be a coming process, but I just noticed that there are quite a few words in verse 30 that are in the past tense. Which maybe God is telling us everything is preplanned, which I think most of us already knew. I agree. God has THE plan!

  13. And I shall reply with this: For what does the Scripture say? who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 2 Timothy 1:9 NKJV You see works are removed from the formula. Salvation is BY grace, THROUGH faith. ANY works done prior to salvation are in vain. Works are a result of a person that has experienced salvation exercising their faith, that is how their faith is made perfect. Noah was saved after he built the ark. I'll let you tell Noah that building the ark had zero to do with his salvation. 2 Tim 1:9 is saying that we are not the "authors of salvation" not that there is nothing for us to do to receive the salvation that Christ authored. Salvation did not come to the world because of something you or I did. Therefore it is not according to "our works." You said "Works are a result of a person that has experienced salvation exercising their faith, that is how their faith is made perfect." This is not what James says in James 2:22 - "You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected;" James says that faith combined with works produces salvation. Salvation = faith perfected. James 2:24 says - "You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone." Everything God gave (faith, works, grace) is necessary for your salvation. Noah was saved prior to his building the Ark, or else he would never have done what God commanded. (Do lost people usually adhere to God's commands? NO. Or else they would believe on His Son and be saved.) Paul is saying Faith is the only catalyst that can react to God's grace and produce salvation. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Epesians 2:8-10 KJV The works ONLY come from us, AFTER God has done His work in us.
  14.   15. . Yes. I do the works BECAUSE I am saved. FAITH + WORKS = SALVATION {is incorrect} SALVATION + FAITH = WORKS {this formula is correct, salvation and faith equate to works. A faith that will not motivate to works is not faith, but rather a belief.}
  16. I think maybe all of us, no matter where we are in the world, are descended from that same grandma.. I don't know the timeline for sure, and neither does science, but we all descended from a very small group of people, a long time ago. Does that mean we are ALL related?!? Absolutely; even science confirms that fact through Mitochondrial DNA. We are all descended from the same woman. Don't know about the dad's DNA. "From the same woman?" ...that was a VERY busy woman!

  18. More than just pondering, "what does God think of this couple and what they are doing?" I would be even more concerned with; "what does God think of this church for it's actions?' For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 1Peter 4:17 NKJV
  19. True, I don't think they ever will be able to. Right! I cannot explain faith.
  20. I have to ask God to help me love those I seemingly cannot: The child molester- I hope for their salvation. Murderer- I pray for their forgiveness. And there are others, I, of myself cannot love everyone. I see with a physical eye, so I must then allow God to love those who are unloveable through me. Understanding, and compassion are the beginning.
  21. IMHO the act (of Water Baptism) is an act of physical obedience to a spiritual God, not much different than the circumcison of the Jews. I think it is more an act of personal obedience rather than church ordinance. So wouldn't the Baptism be universal?
  22. ...the fruit does not lie. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22,23 NKJV
