  1. So? Anyone can call themselves a christian. Words are cheap talk, but actions speak much louder. So he called himself a christian, but do his actions reflect his belief? I think not. As far as the media goes... Well, put simply, I think they are doing it for the attention getter. I mean, "Christian Terrorist Kills 86 People" is gonna get far more attention than "Terrorist Kills 86 People"
  2. So during a discussion of a novel in my English 225 class, we somehow made a tangent about the founding of America. So people began discussing when someone stated that the founding fathers were deists and atheists and were not Christians. (At best one of them was) Is this true or not? I've done some research, but I've found points supporting both sides of the argument :S
  3. Yet another one to add to the pile. Honestly, this has been done so many times, I really wonder why people even do it. So what if you get fame? You will be laughed and criticized at soon enough...
  4. Whenever a politician uses a Bible verse...I'm very wary. It is, at times, nothing more than a method to A) Gain attention B) Try and use it as a spring board for your agenda, rather than a whole-heart-ed opinion based on scripture. Regarding illegal immigration though: Amnesty is not the answer. Quoted from Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (Comparing Amnesty to a similar 1980's program), "It backfired big-time. It sent the wrong message: You come here illegally, and then we go and give you amnesty. So then, the next million come and they say, 'Hey, we get amnesty, this is really terrific" Course though, I don't believe we should begin lining the border with walls and barbed wire. Especially when you consider the conditions in Mexico (the prime source of illegal immigrants). I mean, it's a poor country in comparison. Sure they don't have the right to come over here undocumented, but it is very tempting to jump the border when you consider the much better pay. Not to mention, we are somewhat to blame for this. (Google US Illegal Immigration Explained, bottom of page 1 and top of page 2). Admittedly, I don't have a solution to this problem either. Though I'm starting to think we should create a new VISA-that would allow immigrants the ability to work documented in the USA, only specialized for manual labor. I admit, I haven't thought of all the details of this idea, nor the implications of it. I'm rather juvenile, so I might just be a kid dreaming big. Who knows (well certainly I don't know), maybe this idea has been tried and has failed.
  5. At this rate, pot will be the tobacco of the 21st century...
  6. By all means it is justifiable to defend an innocent's life, but we must be careful. We must not become a "militant", radical Christianity, that turns to arms when troubles arise. Albeit I'm not sure how to respond to this. Part of me says the man did good, the other part of me thinks that the means do not justify the actions.
  7. While it will be nice if they find anything out there, it won't really matter. Christianity isn't about evidence-it's about salvation.
  8. As usual, human nature has taken hold and is corrupting the purity that is, the word of God. While this worries me, God has a plan laid out. His will be done.
  9. The question is: Is the person/group fighting the war for religion, or using religion much like a ship skin to hide their true intentions. In all honesty, saying religion causes wars is much like saying guns kill people. Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
  10. Christianity has always been persecuted. However, rather than persecution, I would say that Christianity is being pressured by society to conform to their views and beliefs.
