  1. Hmm.... sounds like he is poking the bear with a stick..... Edit: Just noticed he made the claim that US is and has always been a Pacific Nation. Since when? I know of no geography or history text book that makes that claim about the United States. Geographically, we straddle between the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. We have the Gulf of Mexico waters to the South (Texas, Louisiana, Miss, Alabama, slightly Georgia, the Florida Panhandle/Florida for our boundary next to Mexico). I do not think it is accurate to say we are geographically a Pacific Nation. A PART of our boundary is found abutting the Pacific Ocean on the WEST side of the country.
  2. Actually, it isn't "EXTREME" right. There are people who actually have a more strigent view that goes further than that. There is something called a "spectrum".
  3. Interesting, Botz. I think it also has to do with the fact that Pharoah was raised to believe he was an actual "god" on earth in Egypt. He was literally deified. Imagine a Hebrew who grew up in your court returned to tell you that the real God isn't you and it is the Lord God of the Hebrews and He wants you to release His people. I'm sure it rankled his nerves so bad.
  4. So what do y'all think our resident (not on forum necessarily) American leftwing liberals going to respond to Obama's plan to boot our troops over to Australia....??? hmmmmmmmm
  5. Actually, I wasn't impressed with Obama's debating skills.
  6. I'm positive these people think it is a positive thing but really, it is positively unrealistic.
  7. I just had a thought, did you mean the 1930's comment...that was separate. I was saying that for effect.
  8. I didn't actually state any "math"? I knew it was in the 1960's where things like racism and civl rights were being stirring in the pot. That is why I kinda referred to the general period. I was born in the Reagan yrs in Louisiana and people STILL had problems with the whole idea never mind that Morial was voted in New Orleans.
  9. Bradlee /Cain article I hope I can start a topic now - if I'm not supposed to- please remove. Okay, I shared this on another board but I'm curious to see what you guys see in this. I like reading Larry Elder from time to time. He is libertarian, however, I find some things he say that I agree with or I think is stating what others are not paying close attention. Anyway- he wrote an article about Ben Bradlee's comment on Cain "have it coming to him" regarding the sexual allegations and that 50 years ago he could have gotten away with it but not anymore today. I will preface this to say : I understand what the point is about with politicians getting away with sexual hijinks in the past BUT.... (Clinton comes close to allegations and actual misconduct but this isn't about him though.) (Maybe it is the English major or the history minor in me but... something stood out like a sore thumb) Ben Bradlee states that Herman Cain could have gotten away with this fifty years ago. Ok, to think this is an accurate statement, in my view, is wanting because 1. fifty years ago, Cain couldn't even muster any support to even think about running for president let alone thinking he can get away with any sexual advance on a white woman times four. 2. Would anyone have hid the facts that Cain molested or sexually harrassed more than one white woman? Really, could Cain have actually gotten away with this behavior in that era where racism and civil rights were at the front news? I want to say.. ok, have you really taken a good look at what you are actually saying here.. a statement is true if the inherent logic or truth can be held up and be proven true. In this case, I don't think this statement is accurate and as a reporter or news commentator, Bradlee should have known the effect of his rhetoric about Cain. Would we expect someone who just in passing say that Jesse Jackson could have gotten away with molesting 4 women and paying them off in 1930's? He'd just get away scot free. WOuld that be a factual statement? Don't you think the media would have a field day on that?
  10. That was what I was thinking of, Nebula. Yikes.
  11. Whoa... the state has "rights" to our organs.... What is to stop them from "harvesting" after they have nicely disposed of people who won't play nice? I don't think I like this at all. Not a bit.
  12. Exactly. In fact, if the argument that Jesus was sinless because Mary was sinless, then Mary had to have a sinless mother as well, meaning that her mother had to have a sinless mother going back in an endless succession of emaculate conceptions. The sin nature is passed through the father. Jesus had no earthly father, but was conceived by the Holy Spirit. That is what made Him sinless; He was/is fully God and fully man. So you think only the fathers pass down sin nature?
  13. Scripture does not say she was sinless nor that she never was a sinner. Scripture makes it clear that no one does good nor seek God. If you say that Mary was obedient then I would say yes because that lines up with Scripture that she obeyed the Lord and allowed herself to be used as a vessel to bear the Messiah who would be the Savior. But to say that Mary herself was sinless is over-reaching but if I remember correctly, it had to do with the Gnostic teachings that was alarming to people about Jesus's humanity/divinity if he was truly a man or if he did not have any sin within him and the response developed to those heretical teachings that Mary was sinless and therefore, no sin was passed to Jesus... Ergo, Jesus was sinless.
  14. I would, as a parent, be VERY concerned. UGH.
  15. I think more than one man should have been fired. I can't believe he just ran from what he witnessed. And I can't believe his father gave him a STUPID advice to leave the building. WHAT? No one called the police? I would have called the police and made sure the boy was delivered in police custody and his parents notified or nearest relative through the police. And the sodomizing coach would should have been fired on the spot. No nice severance. I wonder what happened to that boy. Just a side note: I think sports has gone so much down the tubes that people need to realize these things are just only games. It's become to a point, an idol. And people in the industry think they can get away with it and it shouldn't be.
  16. So it looks like they were assigned and it was a Trusted Office... So it was important, but why for? Aha....now I get a better picture...thanks Isaiah will get back to this later. Looks to be an interesting thread. I hadn't noticed the significane of it before.
