  1. In case people do not know, this message board is for the church. It is for the religion of Christianity.
  2. What is Christianity? Christianity is a religion: Christianity (from the Ancient Greek translation Χριστός, Christos of the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ, Mašíaḥ, meaning "the anointed one"[1] and the Latin suffixes ian and -itas) is a monotheistic[2]religion based on the life and oral teachings of Jesus Christ as presented in the New Testament. Christianity is the world's largest religion,[3][4] with approximately 2.2 billion adherents, known as Christians.[5][6][7][8] Most Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human, and the savior of humanity prophesied in the Old Testament. Consequentially, Christians refer to Jesus as Christ or Messiah. The foundations of Christian theology are expressed in ecumenical creeds that are accepted by followers of the Christian faith. These professions state that Jesus suffered, died, was buried, and was resurrected from the dead in order to grant eternal life to those who believe in him and trust in him for the forgiveness of their sins. The creeds further maintain that Jesus bodily ascended into heaven, where he reigns with God the Father. Most denominations teach that Jesus will return to judge all humans, living and dead, and to grant eternal life to his followers. He is considered the model of a virtuous life. His ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection are often referred to as the gospel, meaning "Good News" (a loan translation of the Greek: εὐαγγέλιον euangélion). The term gospel also refers to written accounts of Jesus's life and teaching, four of which—the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John—are considered canonical and are included in the Christian Bible. Christianity is an Abrahamic religion that began as a Jewish sect in the mid-1st century.[9][10] Originating in the Levant region of the Middle East, it quickly spread to Syria, Mesopotamia, Asia Minor and Egypt. It grew in size and influence over a few centuries, and by the end of the 4th century had become the official state church of the Roman Empire, replacing other forms of religion practiced under Roman rule.[11] During the Middle Ages, most of the remainder of Europe was Christianized, with Christians also being a sometimes large religious minority in the Middle East, North Africa, Ethiopia and parts of India.[12][13] Following the Age of Discovery, Christianity spread to the Americas, Australasia, sub-Saharan Africa, and the rest of the world through missionary work and colonization.[14][15][16] Christianity has played a prominent role in the shaping of Western civilization.[17][18][19][20][21] Worldwide, the three largest groups of Christianity are the Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, and the various denominations of Protestantism. The Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox patriarchates split from one another in the schism of the 11th century, and Protestantism came into existence during the Reformation of the 16th century, splitting from the Roman Catholic Church.[22]
  3. What does the word "religion" mean? It means this: Religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence.[note 1] Many religions have narratives, symbols, and sacred histories that are intended to explain the meaning of life and/or to explain the origin of life or the Universe. From their beliefs about the cosmos and human nature, people derive morality, ethics, religious laws or a preferred lifestyle. According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions in the world.[1] Many religions may have organized behaviors, clergy, a definition of what constitutes adherence or membership, holy places, and scriptures. The practice of a religion may also include rituals, sermons, commemoration or veneration of a deity, gods or goddesses, sacrifices, festivals, feasts, trance, initiations, funerary services, matrimonial services, meditation, prayer, music, art, dance, public service or other aspects of human culture. Religions may also contain mythology.[2] The word religion is sometimes used interchangeably with faith, belief system or sometimes set of duties;[3] however, in the words of Émile Durkheim, religion differs from private belief in that it is "something eminently social".[4] A global 2012 poll reports that 59% of the world's population is religious, and 36% are not religious, including 13% who are atheists, with a 9 percent decrease in religious belief from 2005.[5] On average, women are more religious than men.[6] Some people follow multiple religions or multiple religious principles at the same time, regardless of whether or not the religious principles they follow traditionally allow for syncretism.
  4. Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Gen 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/the-bible/images/27076200/title/holy-bible-photo https://www.google.com/search?q=holy+bible&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=QKPdUoaZLoruoAS3vILYCA&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1688&bih=828 https://www.google.com/search?q=holy+bible&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=QKPdUoaZLoruoAS3vILYCA&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1688&bih=828#q=tree+of+life&tbm=isch
  5. I agree with this statement. Its better to warn the person of the impending future doom than to send them there by not saying anything at all.
  6. https://www.google.com/search?q=holy+bible&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=taTdUvPgEsnjoATL3oGgBA&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1688&bih=828 http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/the-bible/images/27076200/title/holy-bible-photo Yes, homosexuality is a sin: Gal 5:19 -- Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. The word "Fornication" actually means this: illicit sexual intercourse adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc. sexual intercourse with close relatives; Lev. 18 sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman; Mk. 10:11,12 metaphor. the worship of idols of the defilement of idolatry, as incurred by eating the sacrifices offered to idols Therefore, homosexuality is a sin. And people who are lesbians are also sinning.
  7. I think that abortion is not Biblical so therefore, Christians should not support it. Exd 21:22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. The word "fruit" here refers to the unborn baby. If unborn babies were not important to God, I don't think that that verse would have ever been written. Anyway, you cannot be a baptist like me and not be pro-life. My denomination is pro-life, we always have been.
  8. A-mellenialists? My church is pre-millenialists but I was told that the majority of the Baptist denomination is. Especially if you are Independent Baptist.
  9. Anyway I am sorry you got bullied and ostracized by my fellow Christians. Right now in the Middle East there is so much persecution against Christians like me that I can understand if some Christians are stressed out, angry, or even outraged at this disgusting injustice against us. I myself have felt that way and have been in that position. I have even wished sometimes that GOD would strike my enemies with lightning -- not that He ever did, of course. But I highly doubt you were bullied as retaliation of persecution against us.
  10. I was going to agree with you that everyone has a fallen sin nature that GOD must deal with in His own time. People who get saved will still be dealing with their sin nature until they die and go to Heaven. Only then will they be perfect and sinless. I'd say you have to be dead before you are perfect. There is just not a living and sinless human being alive today. We are a lost and fallen world that had discovered the Light of God and we try to follow Christ to the best of our abilities and become more like Him, but we still fail because we all still have our sin nature. Ecc 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. If you do not know what I mean by sin nature, that is just our tendency to commit wrongdoing. The word "Sin" itself means "To miss the mark, to go astray of the path of uprightness and honour." It means you do the wrong thing instead of the right thing like you ought to do.
  11. Promoting witchcraft is forbidden in Christianity. Doesn't the Bible teach us that "we are not to suffer witches to live"? Witches may not know it but I think they are the ignorant pawns of demons. They may even think that they are doing the right thing and are good people, if they are white witches but the Holy Bible is still serious about what it says about not promoting witchcraft. Exd 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. Deu 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, There is only One who is good and that is God. As much as white witches would like to believe they are good people, not one human in history has ever been fully good. Why? Because of what the Bible says. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." White witches are all still sinners and have a sin nature. The Bible teaches we all have a sin nature, and none of us are good. We all have sin. Only God is good. Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. Mar 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Luk 18:19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. This makes mankind inherently evil unless we come to God, repent, and ask of His goodness. Job 9:2 I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God? Ecc 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
  12. I am not Catholic either, I'm a Baptist. I was raised Independent Baptist ever since I was a baby, and now that I'm 26, that means I've been in church for 26 years.
  13. I am guessing it is a pretty common thing since we have hundreds of users on here, there must be hundreds of computers in use -- meaning hundreds of computer owners. We do own our own computers, in our house alone there are four of them. My little sister is an independent web designer (maybe she is a bit of a nerd), and that is what she does for a living. She makes web pages for a living. She has many clients. Recently, she has been teaching herself more about the hardware of the computer. She put together her first full computer last night, all by herself and I was so proud of her actually.
  14. I still think the character "Q" is funny: *** removed embedded video ***
  15. Seriously I'd like to know. My little sister watches TV on her computer...but I have to be in the mood to watch TV and sometimes I'm just not... My little sister was watching this today: *** removed embedded video *** And she made me listen to this: *** removed embedded video *** If anyone has ever heard of Star Trek Voyager. I used to watch the star trek with patrick stewart when I was a little girl growing up in the 1990s but that was a long time ago...
  16. My little sister was watching this today, I think she likes it. *** removed video links *** The old star trek theme featuring william shatner makes me laugh though.
  17. Unfortunately, my church teaches that christian rock, is in fact, of the devil...i wonder if being independent baptist will do that to you....they sing hymns from books that are like, over 200 years old -- sometimes the music bores me but heck....
  18. I live in washington state and its cold up here. Washington state is not washington d.c. mind you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_(state)
  19. No, I am not sharing the computer that I am on. When my parents bought it for me for my birthday they told me that it was mine and mine alone. It's nice having something that is yours and yours alone. Lol.
  20. My little sister listens to her radio and the music on her computer like, every day and I have to admit that all the noise from the music is sometimes annoying. Sometimes one just wants peace and quiet... But that is what one gets from living with a great music lover.
  21. Have you guys consider cancelling the landline phone? How much do you use it? Typically in some plans from cell phone to cell phone the calls are free. We haven't had a landline phone in probably 3-4 years. That's about (assuming $50 a month) $1800 (3 yrs) to $2400 (4 yrs) we've saved in the last few years. My older sister told me not to send her texts to her cell phone because she argues they cost her money. If its cheaper to use cell phones then why are they charging her money every time I send her a text? That is why she always tells me to e-mail her instead. She argues that e-mail is free. She lives in Alabama, and that is like, on the other side of the USA to me. I live in Washington State, and its cold up here. We live states apart. Since she lives so far away from us, its not like I can just get up and drive to her house. I would need to fly on a commericial aircraft and travel down south to see her. That may be, hundreds or even thousands of miles. My little sister used to take the train to go and see her, but that was a few years ago when they used to pay each other's Amtrak travel costs.
  22. I remember when we used to use VHS too for our television and VCR (that was when I was a little girl), but we got rid of all of them and replaced them with DVDS and CDs. We have since then also bought a better TV. Its bigger than our previous TVs, is a flat-screen and it is gray-colored. My little sister sometimes listens to her radio. That is how I learned about Justin Bieber, lol. He was on it. Singing his song "Baby." If we didn't have a radio I guess we would never go to concerts (I've seen Jump5!) because we would never know who anyone in the music world is. But we learn by giving our ears. Both of our boom boxes are in the kitchen. My little sister's boom box is broken but my mom's boom box still works. One is large and gray and the other is small and gray-colored. Technology may be fascinating, but I guess too much of it can lead you away from exercise....
  23. Well, I live in a family of five people, but my older sister moved out of our house and she is married and she does not live with us anymore. She lives with her husband in his house. I still live with my parents in their house and they have some technology. There are four computers in our house and I get to use one, We have electric box fans to cool us off when we are hot, a stove to cook our meals on and in, a dryer to dry our clothes, a washing machine to wash our clothes, a dishwasher to wash our dishes in, a landline phone to call people (and yet we all have our own cell phones too), we have an electric juicer to make juice drinks with, an electric blender to blend fruits and vegetables with, we have electric blankets upstairs to keep us warm at night, we have an electric can opener to open cans with, blow-dryers to dry our hair with when we wash it, radios to listen to music with (this is how I know about radio talk-show hosts), a TV to watch television with (this is how I learned about Yugioh and Pokemon), and we have other technology lying around the house but I forget what they are all called. My little sister is an independent web developer, she uses computers every day and she has taught me how to burn songs on blank CDS that can play music. She is more technical than I am. She impressed me by building entire computers from scratch, so she has knowledge of their hardware. She has her own laptop as well as her own personal computer and when she gets up every day she goes over and does some work on her laptop. Having your own computer gives you access to the Internet which means free browsing time. We used to have three landline phones, one downstairs and two upstairs but we got rid of two of them and now we only have one landline phone.
  24. I don't understand why I am logged in as Skillet1. My screen-name is DeaneRenata but whenever I log in as DeaneRenata it logs me in as Skillet1 instead when I don't want to be. Can someone help me with this problem? How do I get logged in as DeaneRenata? Is this a computer error?
  25. My personal computer is a custom computer, all of its parts come from different companies -- but when we put it all together it worked just fine.
