Hi RB-- I do agree with your post, as well as most of the thoughts on this thread. I however have run across people whom were Baptised as infants, later in life coming to Christ. They truely struggle with the thought of being "re-baptised". It seems more of an indoctrinal thought process from their youth and teaching growing up. The young Brother in Christ whom I am currently mentouring is struggling with this as well, he feels it's wrong to be Baptised again since Scripture states "one Baptism". I think we just need to keep this in mind. Any thoughts? Thank You JF Hey JF, baptism should always come AFTER belief in Jesus if we were to follow Scripture. Being baptized as a child/infant is the same in my view as a dedication of a local church to teach the child the ways of God in the BIble. Just a few thoughts. Hope this helps. God bless, GE Hey GE-- Brother I couldn't agree more. Every time I ask him about baptism he gets real nervous and just says "I don't know, then what was the baptism I recieved as an infant?" He was raised Lutheran (as I was) with that belief system and it's hard to shake. I have NO reservations that he is saved--I try and reason from Acts 19 and other Scriptures but he doesn't see it so I don't want to press and "cause a Brother to stumble" if you know what I mean. I've been down this road before and it seems it just takes time -- in the Word and with direction -- but I know he loves Christ and I have seen the change in his life. So I just keep praying. I always go straight to Galatians 1:8,9 in light of the written date and ask for an explanation. Their usually is none Also they believe Michael is the ONLY arch-angle. Take them to Daniel 10:13 where they speak of him as "one of the chief princes". Very interesting thread to say the least. I like to look at this passage in light of John 3:3. The structure of the Greek terms John uses he repeats ("except a man be born..."), and for "again" in 3:3 indicates from above, which when then applied in context to 3:5 and 6 would point to a spiritual, or "living water". I have to agree that Jesus is indicating something to do with Himself, not physical H20. As far as baptism goes (Edwin since you changed the title....... ) saves no one. Grace through faith alone. Hi Miss- Sorry didn't write this article only cropped it. I did look it up though in different translations of John 21:12 and it is more of an order/statement/command and not a question. Sorry!!!! I'm not sure if your remark is pointed at me so please ignore this if it wasn't. I do not believe men are saved over and over. I simply note that Jesus indicated that although your name is written in the book of life it can yet be blotted out. I have a personal belief about the book of life that as far as I can tell goes with scripture but I am also a new Christian so I am still learning daily. I personally believe that everyone's names are in the Book of Life at the beginning of the foundation of the world. I get this by Jesus telling us that he wishes that all men might be saved. (1 Tim 2:3-4). Everywhere in the Bible that it talks about the Book of Life it is either the name is found, not found or blotted out, but Psalms is what convinces me that everyone's name is in their in the beginning. Psalm 69:28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, And not be written with the righteous. David is speaking about his enemies here and he assumes their names are in the book and ask that they be blotted out. I believe that no one can be saved excepted they are drawn to him by the holy spirit. (John 16:8) The sin that is unforgivable is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, (Mark 3:29) and this is the point that they a blotted out of the Book of Life. Just a babe in Christ two cents. This takes away from HIS omniscience, and HE has to "react" to our decisions and change HIS plans without prior knowledge of what our actions are going to be. Thanks Joi, is this a bad subject???? Not much is known about Matthias. Some traditions hold that he preached in Georgia, some in Egypt, and some to the cannibales in Africa. Also varying traditions claim he was crucified, stoned, be-headed--others hold he died of old age. ------------------ My thought is that it would be Paul--just because JESUS called all his disciples publically and personally, as was Paul. Matthias was picked by the disciples along with Joseph and then chosen by lots. We have alot of Paul's writings in the BIBLE with mention from the other disciples, but no mention of Matthias exists other than the Book of Acts (as far as I know). JohnDB I love this verse in Scripture. I find it helpful for our seeking friends to read our Lord's name in the areas capitalized which refer to Jesus--"Word", "He", "Him", and "Light"--it really brings out the meaning of the verses. John 1:1 NASB (1) "In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. (2) Jesus was in the beginning with God. (3) All things came into being through Jesus, and apart from Jesus nothing came into being that has come into being. (4) In Jesus was life, and the life was the Light of men. (5) Jesus shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it." __________________________________________________ Job 5:17

Because Paul uses the word "what" first and then "he" (small "h," no capital), I believe Paul is not speaking about Jesus or the Holy Spirit. It appears that someone is doing the removing, and whom can remove Christ? It kinda seems there may be multiple things involved, but I think it to be a reference to Michael. We as the "Church" have no restraining power over Satan, it must be spirit oriented as Satan is. Just a thought. ___________________________________________________________________________ Job 5:17

I believe that the "shortening of the days" refers to the 3.5 years of Satan's reign in the great tribulation--so it doesn't go longer than that--3.5 being the shortened amount of time. I also believe it dosen't necessarily point to Israel but to all the "redeemed", or "elect"--both Jew and Gentile. Just my thoughts, good thread M. Interesting post Joi. I know that Cush is the Hebrew word for Ethiopia, which would of had access to the sea. I kinda would of thought that if Isaiah was talking about the US or a far away land west of his location he would of used Tarshish as his reference, which is believed to have been Spain. I think you all are correct, just don't over look the break in the text. In Dan 10:4-6 I believe he looks up to see JESUS in his pre-incarnate form, "the Angel of the LORD", matching the description in Rev 1. Then in Dan 10:9, he states -- "But I heard the sound of his words; and as soon as I heard the sound of his words, I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground." Note he is on the ground, in a form of reverence. (NASB) Then in Dan 10:10, he is awakened by "a touch" and told to "stand up". I believe this to be an angel, or possibly Gabriel whom needed Michael's help to defeat the evil forces. First JESUS, then he fainted and when he awoke, an angel gave him the message. Just to add a thought--when Satan fell, GOD needed somewhere for him to go -- with GOD being all HOLY/sinless, He cannot allow sinful beings to inhabit Heaven -- Sheol/Hades/Hell was created for him and his angels. It is a reality and a real place. We as believers and children of GOD are allowed access to Heaven due only to JESUS's work of redemption. Man was never designed to inhabit Hell, but due to the fall of man he canceled his access to Heaven by sinning, thus acquiring the same curse befalling Satan (ie eternal damnation/separation from GOD). When we were conceived in the flesh, GOD created in us a soul. The human body (flesh) is temporal -- the soul is eternal. Thus Hell is eternal. GOD BLESS ALL
