I do believe in a pre tribulation rapture (catching up of the saved to meet the Lord in the air and forever be with Lord). The following passages seem to argue for that. Revelation 3:7-11 7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; 8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. 9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. 10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. 11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. The church in Philadelphia is the raptured church. Notice the open door in verse 4. That matches the open door John saw in Revelation 4:1. John was playing out the rapture. Now look in verse 10. "The hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world to try them that dwell upon the earth" is of course the tribulation. Note that those in Philadelphia are kept from that. But the hour tries "them that dwell upon the earth." So to be kept from that, the church in Philadelphia must not be dwelling on the earth, because those that dwell on the earth are being tried. So they must be in heaven. They are raptured. Matthew 25:1-13 1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Notice in verse 10 there is a door that the wise five go in with the bridegroom. That is the same door mentioned in the passage to Philadelphia and the open door John saw in Revelation 4:1. The foolish five do not go through the door and it is shut to them. The foolish 5 are not destroyed right after this event, but they missed out on the rapture and must go through tribulation. Now the bridegroom is Jesus Christ and He has chosen His bride. The bride appears in Revelation 19 in heaven. After the wedding Jesus Christ then returns with all His angels and saints to destroy the wicked. Notice the order. The bridegroom comes, Jesus Christ, and takes the bride to heaven (rapture of the church in Philadelphia). The wedding is in heaven. After that Jesus Christ comes to destroy the wicked.

Salvation is just by faith and not by works

But works for salvation will not produce salvation. The 2 must be separated in discussing salvation. It is a slippery slope if this separation is not kept. Good works can only come after salvation. -

Sorry. I like to quote when I respond. On Worthy Christian Forums I forget that all the past quotes are also maintained. I have to remember to just keep the last response when I quote. -

You might be interested to know that the rest of the apostles went to the Gentiles also. Not after the agreement in Galatians 2. So you are wrong. Galatians 2:7-9 7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; 8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles 9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. From the following verses, it is God’s will, that Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles and that it is through his writings, which he got by direct revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ, that the gospel of salvation is to be preached to the Gentiles. Romans 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: Romans 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. 2 Timothy 4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. Paul preaches, defends, and declares the gospel of salvation through his writings. Romans 1:15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. Philippians 1:17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: It is the gospel of salvation that Paul preaches through his writings that are the very basis of God’s judgment. Romans 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. From the next verse it is obvious that all who believe the gospel of Christ are saved. No other requirement in mentioned. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. We are commanded to rightly dividing the word of truth. Everyone divides the word of truth (the Holy Bible) in some manner. The question is what method is the correct way. For example no one dwells in booths for the feast of tabernacles (see Leviticus 23:42). Most people correctly recognize that the ceremonial laws, the feast days, the Levitical priesthood, the tabernacle care, the dietary restrictions, and the sacrificial parts of the Old Testament law do not apply to us the saved Gentiles since we are under the New Testament. Thus they rightly divide out these commands as not applying to Christians today. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But right division also eliminates parts of the New Testament. For example nobody does the following. Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Not many do the following either. Acts 4:34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, Rightly dividing the word of truth means to accept that Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles and that his writings declare, defend and preach the gospel of salvation. We are to consider what Paul writes. 2 Timothy 2:7-8 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. 8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: Paul got the gospel he preaches directly from Jesus Christ (equivalent to words in red). Galatians 1:11-12,15-16 11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. 15But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, 16To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: NOTE that the apostles agreed that Paul is to preach the gospel to the Gentiles. Galatians 2:7-9 7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; 8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) 9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. Jesus Christ chose Paul for this task. Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: You might want to look at history. What HIS-story are we talking about? Satan's lies? The Holy Bible is the only source of truth. You have just refuted yourself, because you have admitted that the Holy Bible does not support your theory. Ok, so everything outside the Bible is a lie? If that is the case why should I listen to you, what you say is outside of the Bible? Now you are being silly. I just put scripture up. I make comments about scripture. Everybody does that. I do use a lot of scripture though and make less comments. But I do discuss scripture, not supposed history from supposed early church fathers. History is HIS-story. It is whatever survived. But Paul in his epistles gives quite a bit of history. If you look in epistles, there were already heresies abounding by circa 40 AD. So how do you know some history is not already promoting heresies. It is simple, just read Paul's epistles. As Paul wrote: 2 Timothy 2:7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. I'm being silly? Posting a hundred verses doesn't prove a point. All it shows is that you know where those verses are. If they are not in context they have no meaning. The Bible doesn't tell us what happened to the apostles. Paul's travels are somewhat recorded, however there were 12 other apostles, what did they do? Paul is the apostles of the Gentiles. He was put to death. As to the others: James killed by Herod's decree. Peter killed by crucifixion. John exiled on Patmos. Do not know from the Holy Bible anything else. Paul to the Gentiles, the others were supposed to go to the circumcision. As to all the verses I post, it is just because the scripture and I agree. You do not have much because you and the scriptures do not agree. They went to the Gentiles just like Jesus told them to do. Regarding the Scriptures, just because you post them doesn't mean they say what you think they say. I can take a sentence out of just about any book and say it means this or it means that. Unless you believe there are errors in the Scriptures one passage that opposes your position is enough to prove it wrong. I have been trying to get across what you said here. Most want to stay under the law and works, when the Bible states we have been deliver from both the law and works. I'm not sure what you're getting at here. He is saying that you are trying to keep yourself under the damnation of the law. The saved are saved forever no matter what. -

I'm not the one who's posting 30 or 40 passages of Scripture in a post devoid of the context in which they were written. I also never said the passages you posted were wrong. It's been my experience that when people post boatloads of Scripture without commentary they don't really know what the Scriptures teach. I have noticed when people put a lot of commentary and little scripture, they are usually deceiving and show how little they value God's words. I see logic and reason have no place here. Have a nice day You use your own philosophical reasoning. They did not go to the Gentiles till Peter was sent. That is plain from scripture. In fact, until then they did not even know the Gentiles could be saved. See Acts 10-11 and other passages. Besides in Galatians 2 they all agreed that Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles. That is the problem. You take a passage out of context, add your own interpretation by adding words or giving a false definition, and claim that that shows the very many passages I give as wrong. Jesus Christ warned about that. Matthew 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. -

Salvation is just by faith and not by works
MarkNigro replied to MarkNigro's topic in Defense of the Gospel
Works deny the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The Holy bible is quite clear that all have sinned are justly under damnation. None are righteous. None are good. None do good. So Jesus Christ paid for all our sins by His shed blood on the cross. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Romans 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Works deny that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ pays for our sins. They also deny our absolute lostness. -
Jesus Christ is the Lord God Almighty, Saviour and Creator
MarkNigro replied to MarkNigro's topic in Apologetics
Have you ever studied in-depth the resurrection of Jesus? Where can you prove that Jesus resurrected without using the Bible? Josephus, a historian at about that time, at least refers to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. There are a number of writings of other gospels and epistles, which although not included in the Holy Bible, refer to the resurrected Jesus Christ. I believe that there are also other historians from that time that also refer to the resurrection. -

Sorry, wrong. You make no sense at all. When there are a very many scriptures that show that Jesus Christ is God Almighty, then that is the truth. Since the scripture is not inconsistent and cannot be broken, that is the end of the discussion. What you do is find something that you try to twist into a false doctrine. First disprove all the ones I have given and prove that the ones you supposedly have, actually say what you claim. The following declares that Jesus Christ is God. There is only one God and God is Almighty from eternity. Therefore so is Jesus. John 20:28-29 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. -

Jesus is God in the sense that He is of the same essence as the Father. However it is the Father who is the ultimate God But then you would have to ignore all the passages that I gave above. They were just some of the ones from scripture. -

Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: -
What does it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
MarkNigro replied to MarkNigro's topic in Apologetics
Actually, what one must believe is that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Actually you are wrong. First, Jesus Christ is God. John 20:28-29 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Second, Jesus Christ said you must believe in who He is and then He said he is "I AM", that is God Almighty. John 8:24, 58 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Third, Paul, the apostle of the Gentiles, declares the gospel of salvation. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Fourth, Paul declared works do not save, they prevent salvation. Works means your faith does not count. Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. Paul warned about another gospel. Galatians 1:6-9 6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Paul warned about someone preaching another Jesus. Jesus is God Almighty from eternity. If He is not how did He come into being. That is another Jesus. 2 Corinthians 11:1-4 1 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. When Jesus said He is the Son of God, it makes Him equal to God, that is, God. John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. -
Evaluation of the Doctrine of Unconditional Eternal Security or OSAS
MarkNigro replied to Way195's topic in Apologetics
Eternal Security or Once Saved Always Saved is Absolutely True. The Holy Bible has many verses or passages that prove this. Here are just a few. There are many more. Jesus Christ who is God said: John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. If someone has everlasting life, then they could never be damned. If not, they did not have everlasting life but potentially had everlasting life. The verse would say, “might have everlasting life.” Jesus Christ, who is God, would not lie especially with the double verily. Jesus also said: John 3:14-18 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Verse 15 and 16 say the same thing and by the same logic prove eternal security. Both also emphatically claim, “should not perish” which again proves eternal security. In verse 18, Jesus Christ says that they are not condemned. All again prove eternal security. Jesus Christ also said: John 11:25-26 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? In verse 26, Jesus Christ said that they shall never die. Surely you believe God. Paul, the apostle of the Gentiles, wrote: Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. If your sealed till the day of redemption, you could not be damned. In the following verse, Jesus says He is with the saved and will never leave them. How could they ever go to hell? Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Jesus Christ the Lord also said: John 10:28-30 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one. If someone has “eternal life,” then they could never be damned. If not, they did not have eternal life but potentially had eternal life. Jesus Christ, who is God, would not lie. Again Jesus Christ is emphatic that “they shall never perish.” Obviously no man can pluck them out of Jesus’ hand or His Father’s hand. The apostle John wrote the following. How can you know that you have eternal life if it is only a maybe? 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. The next passage, written by Paul, the apostle of the Gentiles, says, “are saved,” not might be saved. Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Potentially damned could not be salvation as written by Paul in the following passage. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. The following words spoken by Jesus Christ again prove once saved always saved. John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Before the rapture, for those that are saved by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, there are only 2 possibilities and only one outcome. If they die before the rapture, they get a glorified body and are forever with the Lord. If they are alive at the rapture, they get a glorified body and are forever with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. The above sampling absolutely proves that eternal security (once saved always saved) is absolutely true. They are emphatic and quite clear. Since the Holy Bible has no contradictions, anything that you think shows otherwise is just your mistaken interpretation. Many people assume a passage is talking about salvation/damnation when it is not. This is usually done by taking the verse out of context, assuming meanings of words with false definitions and doctrines, ignoring what salvation really means, or by not rightly dividing the word of truth (see 2 Timothy 2:15) They may be confusing statements made to a different people, for a different time, about a different subject. They may even be using a new Bible version with a corrupt reading. From the above, we are assured by God Almighty the Saviour that if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are saved forever. Those that are saved through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood have all their sins paid for by that blood. They have all their sins forgiven by faith in His atoning blood. God will not remember their sins. Therefore, no passage of damnation or condemnation applies to those saved by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Those that have not believed by faith alone are not saved. None of their sins are paid for, forgiven, or forgotten. Every passage of damnation or condemnation applies to them. Many of these quote the very passages that condemn themselves. -
Here are some more passages which show that salvation is just by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. John 11:25-26 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. Acts 13:38-41 38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. 40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets; 41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you. Romans 3:19-26 19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Whether from Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, Paul, Peter or John, it is the same. Salvation is just by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood.

What does it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ To believe on the Lord Jesus Christ is to believe on who He is, what He did, and to trust in what He has promised. You must believe that Jesus Christ is God Almighty who took on flesh. John 8:24, 58 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM. John 20:28-29 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 1 Corinthians 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. You must believe in what Jesus Christ did. The Lord Jesus Christ shed His holy blood on the cross as the payment for ours sins, He was buried, and rose again the third day. Romans 1:15-17 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Romans 3:21-26 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Finally you must believe what Jesus Christ has promised – everlasting life just by faith in Him. John 3:14-18 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. John 11:25-26 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? Finally anyone who is trying to earn salvation by works or merit, their faith does not count toward salvation. They must stop trying to earn salvation to be saved. You must believe that you are a sinner (ungodly) and there is no other way to pay for sins except by faith the shed blood of Jesus Christ as the payment fro your sins. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Salvation is just by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood
MarkNigro replied to MarkNigro's topic in Apologetics
Salvation is just by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood as the payment for our sins and nothing else Once saved always saved is true from scripture. You can never lose it. But after salvation the Lord does want us to keep His commandments and do good works, which the Holy Spirit does through us. This is not to earn salvation or maintain salvation. It is just the result of salvation. -

For those that believe in the Big Bang, what was there before?
MarkNigro replied to MarkNigro's topic in Science and Faith
Good grief. Distant star light does not remain a problem for both camps. It only remains a problem for young earth 'theorists' who begin with the assumption that the universe must conform to the idea of a 6000 yr old earth. He's twisting the science horrifically. I think the issue for the Big Bang camp is that the universe is larger than the observable universe. To get around that issue Inflation theory had to be added to the original Big Bang theory. Is that something that you can address? BTW, The issue of starlight is just a religious assumption and not a problem for 6000 year old universe. Could you explain a bit more what you mean by this "problem" and why it is a problem. Thanks According to the Big Bang theory, the universe is estimated to be almost 14 billion years old. The observable universe is estimated to be 46 billion light years in radius. 3x the age. Scientist say that this is due to the shape of space which is actually unknown But the actual size of the universe may be over 50 times greater and even infinite. How could the actual universe be 50x or more greater then the observable universe? -
