  1. My answer is that not only is it wrong for a woman to preach for the reasons you mentioned yourself along with other passages of scripture but that you should immediately begin looking for another church home and probably another denomination altogether. If you are in a denomination that can't get something so simple and black and white as women not preaching correct I wonder what else they are teaching in error. Some people get really worked up when you mention this but it isn't me saying women are not to ever preach, it is God in His Word saying it. In my opinion, the denomination or church that most generally lines up closest to scripture in all accounts are your independent Baptist churches. Now, I am not saying that applies all of the time, of course there are good and bad in all churches but as a general rule your ind. fundamental Baptist churches line up most closely with the bible and it's teachings in all areas. I'm sure there will be some who read this and take offense but I don't mean to, if you are from a different denomination I could probably show you from scripture where your denomination is in error. Some say you must be baptized to be saved which is wrong, some say you can lose your salvation which is also wrong, some say you have to speak in tongues which is horribly wrong and I could go on and on with items like that, all things that man has added to or taken away from scripture. Now one of the latest issues is that some denominations are allowing homosexuals to preach and if you are a member of a denomination that allows that you need to run and run away fast. God calls homosexuality an abomination so how could one even consider allowing one to preach God's Word? Guess that is a long answer to your question but it's my two cents worth and it didn't cost you anything. Michael
  2. We cancelled our DirecTV several years ago due to the high cost and the fact that there is literally almost nothing fit for a Christian to watch on it and we don't miss it at all. We do use Netflix for an occasional show. I too was being tempted to spend too much time playing an X-Box 360 game that I had so I sold it on Craigslist a couple months ago and haven't touched it since. I wouldn't say you would have to get rid of a television to be spiritual but if you feel convicted about it then sell it or give it away. There are a few things that are good to watch, for example we went to the Redbox and rented "God's Not Dead" Friday night. My boys, wife and I all really enjoyed it and would strongly recommend it to everyone. Michael
  3. I could spend a fair amount of time going through each thing mentioned and show from scripture how each is wrong but I will not take the time to do that. I'll just hit on a couple of them. As far as being married, the Apostle Peter was married so if he could be an apostle and be married why couldn't a pastor or elder in your church be married? Also, the ban on taking medicine makes no sense, for one, where is that taught in scripture and what about the fact that Luke was a physician? Anyway, your church, in my opinion is evil and of the devil. Get out now and take as many as possible with you. Michael
  4. Thank everyone who votes Democrat for our high gas prices. We have such a large amount of oil here in the U.S. that our gasoline prices could easily be half or less than that of what they are now but the dems and the tree-huggers block all attempts to build new refineries and block as much of the oil well drilling as possible. One of the many reasons liberalism will be the death of the U.S. God blessed us with what many experts say is the largest amount of oil and natural gas in the world but we are too stupid to take advantage of it.
  5. I keep hoping that maybe Rick Perry and the Texas legislature will pull out. They have a large enough economy to survive just fine without our precious federal govt. Would be interesting to see what Obama would do, I'm sure he would order our military to attack but would our generals go along with him? I really doubt that they would because I just cannot believe that our military leaders or most serviing in our military have any respect for Obama. It has been clear for years that Obama hates our military and then when you look at him not letting our special forces go into Benghazi to rescue our men there coupled with this despicable "prisoner swap" I just can't envision the military following through with a command to attack their fellow citizens, surely they would draw the line there. You never know though, our military did attack the folks in Waco years ago, killed a lot of women and children.
  6. Butero, thanks for your reply, I was wondering if I would get some heat for my comments that a lot of folks would consider crazy but I firmly believe that we are way past using the voting booth to fix this country. When you have tens of milions of people re-electing someone like Obama that is evidence enough that we are past the point of no return. I'm only 38 but I never dreamed in my lifetime I would see us elect a president who hates our country and wants to destroy it and all of the principles it was founded upon. If you haven't read it yet I would strongly urge you to purchase or borrow a book from your library, "Suicide Of A Superpower: Will America Survive Until 2025" by Patrick Buchanan. It is one of the most interesting books I have ever read and in a way, depressing because as Buchanan points out we are too far gone for a return to our founding principles. I also appreciate the fact that you didn't get on me for saying that an over-reaching federal govt. is why the South seceded, too many folks have been brainwashed in the public school system and believe the Civil War was fought over slavery. As far as this topic is concerned another great book my father-in-law introduced me to is "The South Was Right". Another very politically incorrect book that requires a person with an open mind to read it, someone who can be open to the idea that 99% of the garbage taught as U.S History in the public school and on PBS etc. is severely liberally slanted. Anyway, it made my day to see at least one person who truly realizes just how far gone we truly are, it really bugs me that so many who claim to be conservative ridicule people like us.
  7. This scenario that keeps playing out over and over with a federal judge tossing out state laws voted on by the people of that state is why the south seceded from the union. An overpowering and over-reaching federal govt. Our founding fathers would be in total shock if they saw the power of the federal govt. today. Most of the power was supposed to be in the state, that's why we are called the United STATES and not just America. Each state should have the right to choose their laws on such topics as gay marriage. This country is so far gone I see absolutely no way in which we get it back barring another state or group of states seceding again or what my grandfather had been saying we needed for years before he recently passed away and that is another revolution by the people to take this country back. People keep saying we can take it back at the polls, you have got to be kidding! Look at the republicans/conservatives we have in D.C. now. It is safe to say that 99% of them are just a little right of the dems. The literal handful of true constitutional conservatives that we do have are scorned and ridiculed by the mainstream republicans so that in itself proves that voting for republicans won't get anything done. As our country and society becomes more and more immoral and liberal as time goes by the republicans just go right along with it.
  8. I do not understand why anyone would think that Obama would apologize. He is a Muslim who hates America and all of our freedoms and liberties. With this prisoner swap he was able to release six more Muslims who hate America. It was a "win-win" scenario for him. Sadly, a lot of people still have their head in the sand when it comes to how Obama truly feels about our country and what he true designs are for it. If you haven't seen it yet, watch "2016 Obama's America", it will give you a good feel for why he hates this country with the passion that he does. Although I realize how Obama feels and have since before the first election it still seems unreal that we as Americans elected someone who hates everything we stand for as our president. As a citizen of Illinois I knew all about his sick views long before he became dictator in chief. One example, as a state senator here he voted AGAINST the ban on partial-birth abortion. How anyone could vote for president someone who believes it is okay to take a baby partially out of the mother's womb and kill it is way beyond me. Add to that the fact that he is a Muslim, hates Israel, was mentored by Communists, and most probably was born in Kenya, along with many other factors I wouldn't and didn't vote for him. I personally think he needs to be arrested for treason and tried and if found guilty he should be imprisoned for life or executed. Think about the fact that he let our men die in Benghazi when we had special forces ready to go in and rescue them. I could go on and on but I'll stop now before my blood pressure gets too high.
  9. I had a bible that was coming apart and took it to a local Amish lady who does book re-binding. I dropped off my bible one afternoon and then a couple weeks later I paid around $15 and got it back good as new! I too too would suggest finding someone who could fix them for you. Michael
  10. Thanks so much for the replies and thoughts! Greatly appreciated! We don't have the facilities to offer hot meals at this time but that is something my wife has already mentioned that she would like to do at some point in the future. Our church has been steadily growing and over the last year or so that we have been attending we have gone from around 50-60 on Sunday morning to 80-90 or more so we are looking to have to add on to our church at some point in time and when we do we hope to have a bigger and better kitchen facility. Someone here mentioned having those who come for groceries fill out paperwork and I'm wondering what information you did take from each person? We are planning on taking the individual's name and address as well as the date they come. Did you let folks pick out what they wanted from the shelves or did you bag up the items for them and then they had to be happy with what they got? Thanks again and hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend! Michael
  11. Several weeks ago my wife and I approached our pastor about starting a food pantry at our church. We have a desire to fufill God's command to help those in need in our church family and community. Our church isn't all that big, we run around 80 to 90 on Sunday morning so we do have enough folks attending to help stock the food pantry with not only food items but other necessities such as toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, dish soap, etc. Just yesterday I went to two local grocery stores and gave them letters describing our ministry with the hopes that maybe one or both of them will support our church with donated items on occasion. My wife also mailed out letters to around a dozen dentists last week asking if any of them could donate any toothpaste or toothbrushes. Right now we are not planning on advertising to the community on our church website or hanging up flyers yet because our shelves aren't stocked well enough for that but we hope to get to that point. Currently, we are looking to just help those in our church family and accquaintances of those in the church as well as those who do on occassion do stop by the church and ask our pastor for help. My question for you all is do any of you have any experience in running a food pantry and if so, what advice would you give? Any good ideas on places to ask for donations or how to advertise to the community when we get to that point? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Michael
  12. Coffespiller, I don't believe Noah would have ate the animals as mankind was vegetarian until after the flood when God gave Noah permission to eat animals. (See Gen. 1:29 and Gen. 9:3). If you would like to study more on the number/types of animals on the ark you can read this article from Answers In Genesis. They are a wonderful source of information and material. Hope this helps ya out! www.answersingenesis.org/articles/nab3/how-could-animals-fit-on-ark Michael
  13. Read two reviews of the movie yesterday, both from Christian viewpoints, and both strongly recommended that Christians avoid this movie at all costs. I will include a link to the reviews so you can read them for yourself. What Hollywood did to the story of Noah is sickening. There is no way I will be taking my family to see this movie. Here is a brief review from Ken Ham at AIG. http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/noah-movie/review-noah-movie-unbiblical Here is a better and more detailed review from Plugged In. http://www.pluggedin.com/movies/intheaters/noah-2014.aspx Hope these help anyone thinking of going to see this twisted perversion of the story of Noah. Michael
  14. My wife and I refinanced about a year and a half ago and got a rate at 2.375%! Amazing!! Michael
  15. The liberal media's bias and against Hobby Lobby is sickening and they are spreading total lies about Hobby Lobby's owners position. I happened to be listening to KMOX which is a big AM radio station out of St. Louis on my way home from work last week and the talk show host was interviewing one of the Hobby Lobby attorneys who pointed out some of the mis-information out there. The main area of lies being spread involves what exactly Hobby Lobby doesn't want to have to pay for. The liberal media is saying that Hobby Lobby doesn't want to pay for contraceptives but the truth is that out of around 17 contraceptives that are available there are three that are considered abortion-inducing and it is just those three that Hobby Lobby doesn't want to be forced to pay for. They aren't saying their employees cannot use any contraceptives, even those three, Hobby Lobby just doesn't want to pay for those three. Michael
