  1. If someone is trying to start a heated argument or upset me, I give them a blank stare and tell them "sure" or "ok" and make awkward silence. Sometimes the best defense for negative energy is neutrality, if they see that their insults are not upsetting you at all it will not be fun to them and they will stop. The first time you ignore them they will try to say everything you possible can to push your buttons you can choose to give them a blank stare and ignore them or give them a smile and tell them you love them anyways. Positivity works wonders as well but to start out that may be hard to do in the moment. But if you tell a family member how you love them in the middle of an argument and mean it, they will be emotionally confused because they are trying to irk you but you are complementing them. Their evil words are empty and they can have no effect as long as you do not believe the bad things they say about you. Even if they bring up negatives in your past realize that can't hurt because you have a new identity in Jesus and he sees the best in You. I hope this Helps, I will be praying for you and your family, God bless!
  2. Do not embrace those negative feelings, keep searching people have time for you and people will understand and befriend you. Jesus loves and so does his followers. I will be praying for you! God bless!
  3. To me it means do not try to do too much. One of the hardest realizations, I had to come to grips with is that I am not in control, sometimes we have to get out of his way and ask him to take care of it. He loves when we ask him to take care of it. It is a realization that are actions never have to be sovereign from God because God is already working for your good.
  4. Jesus told him that because he wanted to be perfect like Jesus is. Jesus knew his true heart and knew that he loved his riches more than he loved the Lord so he challenged him but the guy failed. Being rich is not a sin, but if we make money a priority over Jesus that is a sin. Christians are seeking what is God's will and what God believes is right, we should not be seeking money and treasure for our own Glory. Jesus said why work for treasures that will perish, work for eternal treasures that no one can take away. Eternal treasures come from Jesus as a reward for our faith in him and denying our self interests to do his will.
  5. It means do not be concerned about your own good but be concerned about how you can be good to others. It's about looking to build up others instead of focusing on your own self improvement.
  6. Please do this! I spent 8 years in foster care before being adopted by my family. I have three adoptive siblings and all of us plan on adopting at least one child. One of the things that really made me feel comfortable and safe when I was first placed with my family was their peacefulness at home. No yelling, no arguing, and none of the abuse or neglect I'd suffered at previous foster homes. They took me with them to church and I learned about God, Jesus, and the Bible in a non-threatening way. I struggled with depression for a long time before I met my family and got saved. Ever since I learned that Jesus died for my sins and that God loves me, I've been much happier. Being placed in a loving home with gentle parents does a lot for kids who have no one and nothing in life. Even when I was a foster kid getting bounced around from place to place, I knew other foster kids who were Christian, and they were always more positive and happier than those of us who weren't religious. I didn't understand their outlook on life at the time, but now I know why they could remain so upbeat when going through everything foster kids do. The more children that are brought to God, the better! Wow powerful Testimony! Thank you! I will remember this once I am married.
  7. You are already changing the world forever. God is the original Genius, people underestimate the affect that they have on the people around them. The Book of James talks about how speech is powerful. Sadly you can easily upset someone's day by making a rude comment about their appearance. That person would then experience hurt and anger and go tell a co worker or a friend or a family member how you said something rude and they don't understand why you said that about them. Or you can give a random genuine compliment out of the blue and that same person would tell other people how thoughtful that was. You already have an affect, if you give your testimony to every one you encounter and explain to them why you love the Lord some of them will take that to heart and be more curious about Jesus. Once they come to Jesus, you played a role in saving their soul FOREVER. It can be done with a random small act of kindness and it can be done to people to who rarely receive kindness and they will appreciate it more. Jesus said if you want to be first you have to be last, so serve everyone and your name will be written in the book of Heaven. Work to get your glory from someone who already has all the glory for eternity.
  8. I think the commandment still stands, I know our society likes to plan every thing out down to a science but I think there is fun in some unpredictability. I grew up as an only child, so I wouldn't mine having a big family. I am a man so it is kind of easy for me to say that, but I do think children are a blessing. The way I figure it, if God allows me and my future wife to have a lot of children that means he already figured out a way for me and my future wife to provide for them. My gf and I also have discussed about adopting in the future because there are children out their who need good parenting and need to feel love in a world that started out brutal for them. I think it is important to enstill hope and teach Christianity to the youth because you can empower them for the rest of their lives and their souls would be saved.
  9. Yes, I would like to hear that argument as well. It sounds pretty clear that this verse is about Baptism.
  10. John the Baptist had his own Baptism at the Time. His baptism was a baptism of repentence as a symbol that one turns away from that past sinful lifestyle. John's Baptism was just water. Jesus received the Holy Spirit, so when we are baptized in Jesus name it is a symbol of repentance and of ourselves dying to be revived thru the Holy Spirit. Meaning when we become Christians we are declaring victory over our body and our own self interests. Our past self ambitions died and now we are renewed by Christ the Holy Spirit gives us victory over our body and focuses our new self on Holy things so we now serve God's will and we are not worried about our own will or self interests anymore. Does this help?
  11. I like to Read Matthew beginning with Chapter 5. There Jesus preaches about the sermon on the mount which gives great insight on Jesus's perception and ways of thinking. Also just keep in prayer and talking to him, trust he will respond and listen for him. God bless!
  12. Keep Your head up, you will be in my prayers as well. It's a tough situation but Jesus is with you and it will all work out for the good in the end! Jesus hears your cries therefore you are already blessed! God bless!
