  1. Have any of you read this book? It apparently caused a huge stir because while it was influential and popular in the 90s and 2000s, the writer later renounced it and his faith. Many people who read it later said it ruined their lives because they lived by its suggestions which messed up their future relationships .or lack thereof
  2. its an app like youtube where people can make their own videos and post them online for the public to see. This is both good and bad- Good because people can use it to show tutorials on their various skills. My art skills have drastically improved because of tips ive seen from that. Bad because people can use it to show their opinions to the world. There are alot of progressive Christians/ lgbtt wackos on it spreading their mental poison to the world. It horrific.
  3. yes. even in action movies- the hero kills out a group of villains and the next sequel, theyre walking free as if the wouldnt bein jail or hiding out from the police for mass murder
  4. I saw a video from Tik tok that basically said this in a nutshell. The former stripper responded to the new strippers glee at making so much money. It amazed me - have you realised ,the world especially the media makes an art of promoting benefits of certian lifestyles- promiscuity, drug use, crime etc while not mentioning the consequences? It makes the verse. Galatians 6:7 really pertinent Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Often times, the harvest is far more than what was planted.
  5. The sun doesnt actually move. the earth does, so he probably just stopped the earth from spinning. But the the hronicler, ho didnt know better, it seemed like the sun did
  6. Theres an actual theory that Jonodab may have been in league with Absalom and encouraged /advised Amnon how to rape Tamar to give Absalom a reason to kill Amnon. Amnon was the first born and next in line for the thrown. Nothing is known of Kileab , so some think he may have died, therefore. Absalom would have been second in line. The reasons for this are that- 1) Jonodabs advice is so bizarre . Noone in their right mind woudlve given it. 2) When Tamar goes to Absalom, he asks her if Amnon raped her (how would he know?) 3) When Absalom has Amnon killed, David thoiught all his sons were dead. Jonodab immediately tells him it wasnt the kings sons, just Amnon and that it was because of Tamar's rape.(howd he know) It is just an interesting perspective but it does sho that we need to mind our friends advice, they may have ulterior motives.
  7. Theyre not just going to America. English bible get sent around the globe. The world doesnt revolve around that country.
  8. Missing the forest for the trees arent we?
  9. Romans 13:14 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. You cant be in a compromising situation with a woman if youre not in a place where acompromising situation can happen. Ive heard stories of Christian men going to places totally innocently with women with no ill intent eg counselling, visiting only for the women to try things like walk out in lingerie, get dangerously close to them etc. Even if nothing happens, a woman could claim that he tried to assault her and the ministry goes down the toilet. And like I said, by doing this, he never got into any issues
  10. sticking to the KJV isnt wrong but the mindset accompanying it can be destructive. Many Christians have been conditioned into thinking it is THE Bible and not just one of many translations of it. Gods word is perfect, but man-made translations can and have been shown to be flawed. Thus they'll refuse to change from it to the newer ones with more updated /accurate to today language or acknowledge them as viable versions. They can be rabidly defensive Problem is- due language changing over the centuries and man made errors, there are some parts of the KJV that can be misleading and have been fixed in some of the newer translations but the KJV only proponents refuse to listen and stick to what they are accustomed to
  11. Was reading up on the Billy Graham rule. Basically , during his ministry, he and his team had a rule by which none of them would be alone with a woman not their mother ,wife ,sister or daughter. I saw a Washington Post article which criticised it claiming that it demeans the marriage , acting like you cant uphold your marriage vows without a babysitter or its like a thief claiming he wont come at your house without a parole officer so he wont steal. What I find amusing is that- in his decades of ministry, and in light of all the pastors who've fallen into trouble due to sexual sin, have you ever heard of Billy Graham in any such scandal? Nope. A valuable lesson- So long as its biblically sound, never let peoples criticism or ridicule dissuade you from taking the stances or strategies you know you have to take to stay on the right track.
  12. This is hilarious but it demonstrates the bible verse Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion. When you know you're doing wrong, yure constantly on the lookout of being caught and suspecting that others know and are judging you .Often times ,the people have not a clue about what you are up to
  13. Missing the point by a mile there aren't we?
  14. Can anyone explain this logic? Context- Its based on an incident that happened. A guy in a chat once gave a story that happened to him and his live in girlfriend. I still cant see the logic behind the girlfriends anger. I actually told it to a female friend who sided with the girlfriend. But it actually, rebounds to something a marriage counsellor said- Basically , they said if it as one thing that they would like women to understand is that- your husband cant read your mind, so its unreasonable to expect him to do what you want him to do unless you tell him.
  15. good points. I dont think theyre doing it to push a racial divide though. Wheres the [profit in that.someone pointed this out- disney cares about money first. All the hype about casting a black actress as a classic white character is going to generate alot of hype and discussion with amount to free advertising. Look at the response when they made the fairy in Pinnocchio a black woman. I got far more comments that alot of the movies other pictures . People who probably wouldnt have cared about the movie otherwise will go and see it cause of this
  16. Yeah. It's actually the original Supermans son. And to show how forced it is, the second Robin, who had been written straight for years abruptly pops out as gay and jumps in a relationship with a man after having been in one with a woman and Iceman who had been written straight for DECADES comes out as gay a few years back.
  17. Anyone else amused at this whole uproar about Ariel in the little mermaid remake being black. Grown people are making videos complaining about it, arguing that a half woman half fish hybrid creature who lives on the ocean bottom wouldnt have melanin due to the lack of sunlight, making fake movie posters where they race swap black historical figures like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther king jr with white actors to somehow point out the hypocrisy involved.Regardless of your opinion of race swapping characters in media a couple of points must be noted 1) The kids, who are pretty much the target audience will watch it and not care. 2)Its Disney's movie so they can do what they wish with it. 3) There are far far more pertinent issues to get up in arms about. 4) Its just a 90 minute movie. If you dont like it, just dont watch it 5) Your childhood is over. Nothing that happens when you grow up can change it. Seeing this, theres actually a group called Christians Against The Little Mermaid. Now I dunno if the people in it are actualy Christians or just tack the name on but. Heres an important point to be made if they are- People of God. Fight the battles He puts us to fight. Theres no reflection of Christ or spiritual stake in protesting the colour of a movie character, This can only reflect badly on us all when our conduct is highlighted. This can apply to sports, politics , practically anything in life. Sure you can have an opinion, but how far will you go to push it? Are you willing to damage the ministry of christians for it?
  18. Proverb 26:11 As a dog returns to his own vomit, So a fool repeats his folly. This is an important verse because some people can go back to bad situations over and over after the horribleness of it caused them to leave. If nothing about a situation changes, theres no sense in returning. I made this mistake alot with toxic friendships- cut off a person due to how they treated me. It would last a few months, wed communicate at some point later and theyd seem friendly and id reconnect, only for them to repeat the same behavior that made me cut it off.
  19. still doesnt change my original point. Count the cost. People talk about divorces being more prevalent now than then but fail to point out that because of no fault divorce and women having far more options now than be a dependent house wife , people may have left awful abusive marriages that in past decades they would have stayed.
  20. These columns are a gold mine of life lessons. What lesson can we learn from this one.
  21. Lets not be difficult. One part showed the importance of considering the cost. The other pointed out that the near 50 year old man shouldnt pursue whats basically a child and asking where her parents were in this.
  22. the year wasnt posted, I dunno if anyone blamed her. My thing was it was the 44 year old man who i was perturbed at.
  23. Exactly- In Luke 14, Jesus tells us to count the cost before becoming a disciple. This applies to everyday life as well, before we make any major decision, we need to assess what all of the future results will be and decide if we can bear them. While I dont think she should get a divorce, I can sympathise with her. When she got married ,she probably didnt realise that marrying a man 28 years her senior would mean he'd start approach old age when she'll be in her prime so now she has to deal with being a young woman with a man who is nearing eldery. Also this- whats a 44 year old man doing courting a fresh out of school teenager. Werent there and women in thir 20's 30s and 40s around? At that age, her brain isnt fully developed into adulthood and shes hardly able to make such drastic decisions. WHERE WERE HER PARENTS!!!!
  24. ummmmmm....... harsh much?
